I bought 10 bags to use for wet spots in a lawn. This sand is not good for landscaping. It included a lot of concrete dust, which created a hard crust on the surface after the sand got wet.

Falsely advertised. This is the exact same sand as a $3 bag of play sand. Not washed, a lot of small pebbles. It’s not fine at all. Very disappointing, Home Depot. Especially since I drove 40 minutes one way just to pick it up from my local store and now I get to drive back, just to return it. And The customer service I received was terrible, like usual. A waste of time. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Easy to install and rake even. Sand was clean with no lumps. Good stuff!

Wondering why you would place the pallet 1/2 on the grass and on top of a a sprinkler? Come on now!

I purchased this multi purpose sand to use in my cats outdoor litter box. It was great, until it rained and the sand never dried.

We used this to smooth and level when setting up our above ground pool. This worked great. No rocks or pebbles. Just smooth sand. This worked great for our needs.

The product description on the Home Depot webpage says "This sand is graded, washed, dried and sanitized for use in sandboxes..." BUT the label on the bag itself says only that it is "graded and washed" and includes the warning that "This product should not be used for play sand." So it appears that the webpage description is not accurate. The bags I purchased for use in my garden included a high proportion of small stones, which was not what I wanted for this use.

Does what sand is supposed to do. Good grade for basic projects.

Sand come in different grain sizes to dust ,small round pebbles and grits. I use this for put between pavers. I am please with the result and would buy again but I would advice to place the bag on the ground don't throw because they will easy bust.

Extremely inconsistent product. Depending on what you need it for, it might work. The left side of the picture shows the fine sand I received late last year. The right side shows what I just received. It looks more like gravel to me. It also had some rocks about the size of a cherry tomato. I'm not happy with this because I needed more of the fine sand I bought last time. And yes, I bought the exact same product with the same SKU and it came in the same leaky paper packaging that wants to rip open when you pick it up.

Just the right amount of sand per bag no complaints.

We used this as part of our paver base over crushed gravel. We bought 28 bags based on the calculations they provided for 1" depth. I would recommend buying more than you think you'll need. We are about 4-8 bags short. It tricks down into the gravel so you end up using more than you think. We used 2 'sticks' cut at 1" high and dragged a 4' level over it to get it grade. 1 bag would do a section. The sticks were about 1'-1' /12 long so hopefully that gives you an idea of your doing a similar project. It does contain small gravel but for construction or gardening use it seems perfectly acceptable. I wouldn't purchase for a sand box.

Just like the name implies, this is multi-purpose sand...meaning this isn't fine sifted one color play sand (which HD carries) or paver sand (which is angular very small pieces of rock that interlock) - also carried by HD in the garden department. This is just sand with varying sizes and colors of sand (some round pieces as large as 3/16" down to grains). This is the least expensive of the sands mentioned above per pound as well (found in the building department near concrete). I was using this for two purposes. First, I was using black Great Stuff pond foam spray insulation between my flagstones of my pond perimeter. I use the foam to stick the flagstones to the liner and fill the cracks between them. I would immediately, push the sand into the fresh foam deflating any bulges. The coloring of the sand varied from gray to brown which was a good match to my flagstones. The other uses was to place uneven surfaced flagstones around my pond. Most of the large walkway flagstones were flat only on one side and had many bumps and ridges on the other. A loose bed of this sand help conform it to the funky shapes of the flagstones and was easy to level. The flagstones were large 18x18-ish inch stones which did not need a more non-moving sand such as paver sand. All in all a good general purpose sand.

They must have changed the fill of these bags, I bought a year ago and it was sand but I just bought it for some work that needed sand and when I opened the bags it was far from sand. It looked like rock dust, ungraded, some was larger slivers and other was dust and it was gray in color. Very disappointed and was unable to use them for the project. The ones that were not opened I returned but wasnt able to return the opened one. If you where using it as a base material it would probably work but by no means is this sand. If it was sand as it has been in the past and as other reviewers pictures show the value is great.

I use the sand door an area in front of my house as a mini beach. I have shells, colored stones, boats etc. Looks great.

Multi-purpose sand served it purpose of replacing my lawn near the drive way.

Good sand for paver base above gravel and between pavers. It comes slightly damp so it is ready for tamping right out of the bag.

Apart from the 60 lb. Multi-Purpose Sand being heavy - 60lb the product was great. The only thing I would suggest is being conscious of transporting it. The bags, if handled incorrectly can open on their own.

When I first bought the bag back in May, it came white like sand. I re-bought it again in August and the sand now is black same company same bag different color not happy.

All three of my bags I bought weighed about 52lbs. I was using these to fill up a sand bag to a specific weight. I should have just bought the play sand for the equivalent price as the fill was off by 13%

Excellent grain and texture. It was pretty bland and could use some paprika or cilantro to add some flavor. No need to visit Mexican beaches as long as this is available.
