used 3-4 as a less ugly/more decorative support for a CD wall cabinet that the manufacturer recommends using a length of 1 1/2" angle iron to mount.

These angle brackets are sturdy and impart a nice detail to my post and beam porch. They provide a much nicer finish than plain galvanized hardware. Based on their size and the substantial fastening system, I'm convince they are strong. They stand up well to the 6x8 and 6x6 rough-cut timbers.

The APA21 is considered a light rafter tie with DF/SP loads at 200 uplift and 120 F1 directional loading. Depending on your application an APA4 or APA6 might better suit you needed load requirements.
