Very efficient as long as you don't try to cram too many leaves in at once. Keep your fingers ABOVE the shield...just feed the leaves in steadily. Does a nice job of finely shredding leaves. I like the fact that when the string trimmer lines wear down its a simple 5 minute replacement to iinstall new line. This is a lightweight machine but I think it will last if you treat it right. Five Stars.

Easy to assemble and worked much better than I expected. So well, that my daughter borrowed it to use on her leaves! Only downside is getting the string that you need to replace occasionally. Even replacing the string is easy.

The Sun Joe has proved to be a great shredder for leaves and garden waste that is headed for the composter. It creates much smaller plant debris that composts rapidly. The ability to adjust debris size is a plus. And once I'm done, it comes apart so I can store it in the garden shed in much less space. Wish I had bought it years ago.

Great shredder! Shredded materials are ready for more composting or directly as mulch. Greatly accelerates the process of composting.

Little assembly required to get going. Easily attach a leaf bag to the shredder using the bungee like holders. Turn it on and Dump your leaves in and it quickly reduces them to a fine mulch.

Extremely dusty & noisy!!

This is a replacement for a previous unit (similar model) that died after about 4 years of use. There are some minor design improvements from the previous version which may give the new one more longevity. Pros: corded for consistent performance, easy to change trimmer strings. Cons: they legs are not well designed for straddling a 30 gallon can. I suggest making a plywood template that holds the shredder over the can (you tube videos are available that depict the DIY solution.). The on/off switch design appears to be unchanged. In my old unit, the switch became non- functional after about a year.

Works great. After the end of last year’s garden season I left plants in a compost pile over winter, I was able to take the dry pile and shred it down to add to the compost bins this spring. One bad thing is that I have had to replace the string several times during this process but it is simple to replace.

We bought this to shred long-leaf pine needles finer to use as mulch. We ran the needles through twice to get the texture we wanted. We're looking forward to using it on our sycamore and other leafs this fall. Given how it did with the pine needles, I expect it to do a good job on the leaves.

Works exactly as expected. Watch the on-line video before it comes and you will have it set up and begin shredding quickly. Home Depot shipping to the house was very convenient and fast.

The shredder did a good job of mulching leaves, but had a difficult time with dry “decorative grasses”; it’s also quite loud.

Good unit for the price

The Sun Joe shredder has done a great job of reducing my leaves to a manageable level. The adjustment from course to fine is easy to use. The 39 gal leaf bags clip on easily under the stretch cords at the bottom of the unit. It is very light weight making it easy to move around the yard to the raked up leaf piles. Well worth the cost.

Is doing the job perfectly great service the only thing is the button to turn it on and off I get dusty it is a bit hard to press

As of yet....due to the short period of time used so far. Apparently , in my opinion, and as mentioned in some reviews I read even before purchasing. I have to agree with the claim of hard to feed and needing something to push down into feed , and very loud. Actually ,,, besides those things with only about a half hour of use the supposed "thick" cutting line has worn to me exceptionally fast. Having owned many different "weed wackers" over the years for cutting / edging etc. Have had line last a lot longer it seems. Not turned off completely yet as it does reduce volume...Just not sure further use will change my mind. My opinion...but also my more than $100 to purchase.

Does a excellent job shredding leaves. Be careful of sticks!

Runs strong. Produces finely ground leaf mulch for my garden beds. Lightweight and portable. Adjustable leg height allows me to level the device body on a sloping terrain. Powerful motor that does not bog down.

Its first use was the Spring clean-up, pulverizing the large sycamore leaves left over from the Fall. It did a marvelous job making a mulch pile that I can put into the compost. Assembly out of the box was a snap, and disassembly for storage until this Fall was equally simple. Replacement of the trimmer string is also just as easy.
