The wood closure strips are made of very poor wood quality. They are full of knots and split. Lost at lease 15% during insulation. Will never use them again.

The quality of the wood is very poor, but it fits perfectly. You have to predrill every screw or it cracks. The other problem is that if you do not use 2” screws you are ‘screwed’. The integrity of the wood will disintegrate over time and you better hope you used enough fasteners to keep the strips on the supports. You also do not know your products at all, because the picture of the product is not a closure strip, but I reviewed the product in the picture.

The wood they cut these from is very brittle. I'd recommend drillign pilot holes, but who can be bothered when you're 10 feet up installing roofing?

Better with plastic strips
Better off with the plastic closure strips. You need to pre-drill these wood strips or you'll end up splitting them. The plastic ones are easy to screw into.

They work well for their purpose. I do think they split and break sometimes too easily. I wish the packaging was more distinctive between the two styles available. I had to go back and exchange wrong ones a few times.

Required for a correct install.
Fit the Suntuf profile perfectly. Install under each panel as you go. Drill oversize pilot holes through both panel and closure strip, or they will crack. I also spray painted the tops white as per the instruction.

      This product lacks rigidity so make sure to buy the wooden or plastic ridges to add stiffness.

        I watched the video on how to install the strips. Looked easy enough. The strips did not work like that for me. I ended up not using them at all. Having said that, I did experiment with them as shown in the video and they didn't work or fit with the panel like I thought they should have. In addition, I thought the strips were somewhat fragile...and quite expensive. My two-star rating reflects more on the product itself (altho I felt "performance" wasn't so hot either). Use them if you want. Frankly I don't see a need to bother with them. I returned mine.

              The wood splits very easily. More than half of the wood closure strips we used split. Unfortunately the foam strips are not sold in the store;

                      Make Better Trash
                      Seriously. Theres no reason to predrill. Make them cost $2 more and use better wood because you’re wasting everyones time. No one is going to care about spending another $30 on projects that run in the thousands when youre saving time. Hell I’m about to take one and copy it digitally and route them out of 2x4 and at least then theyll look like part of the structure and not some flimsy trash thats not even 1 1/2” wide. This is not just about predrilling. If you’ve ever removed poly roofing then you know this is the first stuff to rot away. My favorite part is they advertise made in America. This is some of the worst trash ive ever seen made. Please dont associate it with America.

                        The wood split unless holes were pre drilled, and it didn't really match the pattern of the roofing. Some of the "peaks" were broken off. Overall I thought the quality was low, but I was afraid to install without using them. And they were stained a redwood color, I would have rather had natural.

                          WORST EVER!
                          The Suntuf 24 in. Horizontal Wood Closure Strips (5-Pack) is the worst product you can buy. It splits and throes off the roof attaching screw wrecking your roof and making it leak. This junk may have distoryed my roof!
