My son in law has the exact model but a few years old. I used it when my "kids" were on vacation last winter. It was a great machine, I was impressed, so I decided to replace my 1984 8/24 Murry Snow King with a machine like my son in laws

The Toro snow blower worked as advertised saved us a lot of manual shoveling this season

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my Toro 824 PowerMax snow thrower after my 17 year old snow thrower broke down in the middle of clearing a late season heavy wet 8” snowfall I called around and the Toro 824 was the only 2-stage I could find. After a long snowy winter, all the snow thrower retailers had sold out their inventory except this one. When I got it home, the Toro PowerMax made quick work of the snow, including the high bank across the end of my driveway left by the city snowplow. I was pleased by how quiet the Toro was compared to my old snow thrower and by how far it tossed that heavy snow, a good 20 feet beyond where my old machine would throw it. I also like the convenience of the one joystick control for the chute vs two separate controls, one for rotation and one for elevation. The one short coming of the 824 PowerMax is that it has no steer-ability, it has to be horsed around corners and to turn it around at the end of each pass down the driveway. It makes for a lot of unwanted effort for this 67 year old Minnesotan!

Toro Power Max handled the 20 + inches of snow that we got very well. It started easily and the self propelled feature was nice. No complaints at all with this machine.

It works great but I always use it in the lowest speed because it's too fast.

We received two feet of snow right after getting the Toro. It took two passes because of the depth but it plowed right through. Easy to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This snowblower works fantastic I have used and it and I am very satisfied.

Used it three times during March and it was great. The Toro snowblower handled a slushy snowplowed pile of snow much better than expected, throwing the snow over 10 feet and only clogging three times (the third time I realized it would clear itself if I just waited). The last time was a dryer snow about 6 inches deep and it threw the snow over 30 feet (just like the video). My neighbor lady said Toro has the best snowblowers and she was right about that!

Powerful but lightweight enough to be easy to handle. The direction control for the chute is innovative but takes a moment to get used to. Easy to start. We have a 1000 ft driveway that is an uphill S-curve from the house and the machine handled it just fine, even with wet snow.

The unit was super easy to assemble (under 15 minutes). Added fuel to it and fired it right. The next morning we had 6 inches of snow on the ground and it was like using a hot knife thru butter, no hesitation , it threw the snow as described and the joystick control for the snow deflector has all my neighbors jealous!

Overall it's been a really good snow blower. The assembly was a little tricky watch the bolts and springs as you unfold the handle bars to assemble. You will also need to purchase 5w-30 oil separately.

'It should have come with the high altitude piece I. It. Anything above 5,500 ft must have it. Now I have to buy it and pay someone to put it in. We are 6,200 ft. Not right to have more expense on top of wnhat I already paid

Does a lot of good things (reverse speed, chute maneuverability) and the slowest speed is adjustable to some extent but I would prefer a even slower speed for the heavy snow storms.

I picked this unit up after 18 years with it's 2-stroke predecessor-the old one died. The setup is a bit different, but this machine is a beast! The 252cc engine has all the power I need for a Minnesota/Wisconsin snowfall. I have had 3 sizable snowfalls since getting this machine and so far it destroyed the snow. This winter has been a weird one with wetter and heavier snow than usual. The area at the end of the driveway can be a problem after the plow comes through, but this machine wasn't bothered by it at all. It will still clog when the really wet slushy mix accumulates, but wet heavy snow isn't a problem. I would highly recommend it for residential snow blowing. A single stage wouldn't cut it for me. This guy is one of my new best friends.

I have used Toro snowblowers in the past,when I worked for St. Paul Public Schools and they've always been a reliable machine. I was impressed by how a significantly lighter (than my old one) machine was able to cut thru 12 +inch snow on my driveway and sidewalks

Does a great job. This replaced my 40 yr. old Montgomery Ward blower. It’s quite a bit lighter weight than the old one.
