This 252cc Toro® Premium 4-cycle OHV, electric start engine will clear your way 28 inches wide and 21 inches deep. Stick it to winter with our innovative Quick Stick® control, allowing you rapid and simple one-handed manipulation of the steel chute direction and chute deflector. Steer yourself right (and left) with self propelled triggerless steering for fluid, tight turning—no triggers or levers required. Our exclusive Anti-Clogging System meters snow intake to reduce clogs and optimize clearing performance with no shear pins in sight. Will the Toro HD 928 make my neighbor jealous cause it's better than his Troy-Bilt ?

Asked by BankRuptinPA September 8, 2020

Answer

We do agree, we like Toro too! Some of the great benefits that this machine offers is all steel construction including an all steel chute which are built to last the harshest of snow conditions, even the frozen chunky ice slush that is always left behind at the end of the driveway! Plus the Toro Power Max HD 928 OAE offers triggerless steering, allowing you to breeze thru turns with ease and no lever or triggers to pull – just turn! Plus it’s loaded with Toro technologies such as our patented anti-clog system, Quick Stick Chute controls and an auger system that is designed 2x stronger!

What is the horsepower of this Toro Model 828?

Asked by Jerry August 2, 2020
1
Answer

This snow blower is powered by a Toro Premium 252cc OHV 4-cycle. The Toro Company currently uses CC (cubic centimeters) instead of horsepower (HP) to measure the force a given engine has. This has become an industry standard over the last few years. Thank you.

I purchased this model to replace my 25 year old Toro 828 for our New England winters. Light and fluffy or heavy and wet snow, even slush have not been a problem for this machine. The engine is strong and starts on the first or second pull. I have not had any issues with clogging like with my old snow blower. The power assisted steering is probably my favorite feature. Tight turns and turning around are no longer an issue. The LED light is bright and the location make it very useable when the sun goes down and the work is not done yet. My driveway is mostly paved but I do have a part that is gravel. It was important for me to not have to deal with shear pins in case I happened to suck up something by mistake. All being said, I am very happy with my new Toro Power Max HD 928. Home Depot assembled it for me and had it ready to go when I arrived. As you can tell, I would recommend this snow blower.

So far so good. Had the P Max about a month now and encountered 3 storms here in Minnesota. 1st storm was a good test of wet snow and the ability to chuck that stuff yards away. Storm today was light and fluffy and that was launched into the sky and is last seen heading west. All kidding aside starts good and fires up with electric start. Love the stick shift for moving the chute to chuck snow in all directions. The reality that hit me today is that my wife probably could not operate the controls effectively. Needs your "head" in the game using the shifter and auger control as you navigate curves and inclines. That is ok with me as I am safety conscious. A test of my happiness will be the long term reliability of this machine. My last snow blower was a 8 HP MTD and was still going at 14 years. I wanted more horsepower and that is why I got this one.. The user directions require an oil change after the first 5 hrs of use. Based on that I would recommend getting the maintenance kit up front like I did. That way you also may get another year on the warranty.

First I have to say that the Toro 928 is a great product but I haven't yet been able to use it since I haven't had any snow. The problem I have is with the shipping container. The skid that the snow blower was in had broken and fell apart. The snow blower was leaning on its side and part of the unit was sticking out of the cardboard box. The chute rod was bent about 75 degrees. There was a deep scratch on the auger housing which caused the impeller to rub on the left side. There was several other scratches on the bottom and side. I was able to straighten out the chute control rod (attached to the lever) on my vise. I assembled everything and when I started the unit to make sure it was going to work I discovered the impeller rubbing on the left (chute side). It was making a loud clacking sound. The part it was rubbing on was where the deep scratch was on the outside. I used a piece of 2 x 4 and pounded out the slight dent and was able to clear the impeller. The shipping container should have been stronger to prevent this. Why put a heavy machine on a flimsy skid? I may return it if when it snows the machine doesn't work properly because of the shipping damage.

I was pleasantly surprised that the installation instructions were easy to follow and the unit started first try. Isn't snow season yet but ran it around the yard to try the steering. It worked as advertised! Can't wait to try it out in our harsh Minnesota winter conditions.

So far so good! This sucker wants to throw the snow on the neighbors roof! Only complaint is that I need to figure out how to properly adjust it as it seems to not be fully balanced and wants to pull one direction. I'm sure I'll be able to adjust it.

Looks good sitting in the garage. I am pretty sure I bought a snow preventer. I did start it up to make sure it would run and it did fine. Waiting to see how it performs.

What a beast
This snowblower replaced my 15-year-old snowblower and what a difference. The snowblower is quiet, barely bogs down in the deepest heaviest snow.My only complaint is the quick stick does take some getting used too.
