Product Overview

Tackle tough snow projects with speed and ease thanks to the Power Max 826 OAE. A 252cc Toro Premium 4-cycle OHV engine powers the blower, and with a 26 in. wide clearing width and 20 in. intake height, you'll be back to playing in the snow in no time. The innovative Quick Stick control allows you to quickly and easily change steel chute direction and chute deflector with a single, smooth motion. Convenient one-hand operation levers allow single-handed operation, freeing the other hand to change speeds or the chute control without stopping. Give your arm muscles a break with self-propelled automatic steering for smooth, tight turning without pulling or strain - no triggers or levers required. The exclusive Anti-Clogging System measures snow intake to reduce clogging and maximize clearing efficiency. Equipped with a hardened gears in your auger gearbox - there are no shear pins to replace. Instead, if the auger hits hard material, the engine will stall to prevent damage. Ideal for concrete, asphalt and gravel surfaces. And with Toro's 3-year limited warranty (residential only), you can rest easy knowing that you're prepared for anything winter has in store. Count on it.

Where is it made?

We appreciate the question. Toro manufactures most of its products in the United States, primarily in the Midwest, with facilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan. We do have manufacturing facilities around the world where efficiencies are gained by being closer to the end customer. All of our manufacturing facilities, regardless of location, adhere to the same standards for quality around our manufacturing processes.

How do you turn or steer?

Asked by Titansrule October 18, 2020
1
Answer

This machine is self-propelled therefore as you need to turn left or right, you simply turn the machine left or right. Thank you.

How many HP

Asked by MarStan October 13, 2020
1
Answer

Thank you for your question. The Toro Company currently uses CC (cubic centimeters) instead of horsepower (HP) to measure the force a given engine has. This has become an industry standard over the last few years.

Answer

The SnowMaster QXE 24 is an In-Line Two-Stage with an 18" snow cut depth, Personal Pace self-propel and an In-Line Two-Stage auger system. It is recommended for use on paved surfaces with a moderate slope. The Power Max 824 OE is a Two-Stage with a 20" snow cut depth, self-propelled drive system with 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds and the Power Max Anti-Clogging auger system. It is recommended for use on multiple surface types (gravel or paved) and steep slopes. Thank you.

No, it does not have airless tires. Thank you.

How does the 824 QXE differ from the 824 OE?

They are two different series of snow blowers. The SnowMaster 824 QXE is an In-Line 2-Stage, with a 10” (25 cm) Diameter rotor, Personal Pace drive system, 18” (46 cm) snow cut depth and a Sub Zero Material plastic chute, The Power Max 824 OE is a traditional 2-stage snow blower, with a Friction Disk drive system, Anti-Clogging System, 11” (28 cm) Diameter rotor with Hardened Gears (No Shear Pins Needed), 20” (51 cm) snow cut depth and a steel chute.

How does the " Anti-clogging system " work ??

Asked by tebeau January 6, 2020

Answers

Toro’s patented anti-clogging system increases your productivity by rerouting excess snow away from the chute and back into the auger ultimately minimizing clogging. This keeps you blowing snow and gets you back inside faster. Take a look at this quick video that shows our Anti-clogging system at work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqm6MhJAzfo. Thank you.

I'm 77 and my husband is 86. We can both operate this snowblower. We live on one acre and the driveway and turn around areas are gravel. This unit has adjustable "shoes" to raise the auger so it doesn't dig into the gravel. It is very powerful, easy to start and a welcome addition to our mechanized fleet (ie riding lawn mower, sprayer, rototiller, etc.). It was already put together at the store which is a plus.

Came in a big box, had to put together, handle bars and attach cables, suggest you look up video from Toro before you assemble it, especially the cable adjustments part follow and you should have no problem. this replaced a basic MTD 24" model with 8 speed transmission, although a good machine, Toro has power steering and much more power thanks to the 252 cc vs the 208 on MTD. I have to remove my roof snow and the MTD was pretty much useless, because when you shovel snow off roof it becomes something else when it hits the ground it transforms into a monster, what I call second hand snow is terribly difficult to remove. I have confined areas where have to remove from roof than blow towards driveway or backyard. If I leave snow on roof it drips for weeks and re-freeze every night on ground and is very hazardous, so had to have a more powerful machine with power steering and one that was similar in size to my 24" MTD, don't get me wrong MTD good machine for light duty work but not up to difficult snow removal. I did some careful comparisons before buying this machine, I looked at Husqvarna, Airens, Dr Power, Club cadet, MTD Simplicity ect.... I narrowed down to Ariens or Toro, I even talked to dealers and shop mechanics, they all said buy the Ariens; To Big! I have a bad back and needed a lighter machine, the Ariens Deluxe 24" or for that matter 28" both same machine!, you might as buy the 28", but weight 80lbs or more. just to big for my purpose. That why I bought the 26" Toro just a little bigger and approximant weight as my MTD, but much more powerful. It will start with first pull but the bigger the CC harder to pull, I will always use electric start works great. only neg no hand warmers, and delivery company let it set in warehouse 50 miles away, fromThursday through the weekend received on a Monday, I could have used it on Thursday. Plus its made in Mexico. Aside from that, seems like a well built machine and handles like a sports car compared to one with out Power steering.

Chute controls
Ordered this product online and "some assembly required" is an understatement. Had issues with how the chute fit from like step 2. Got it together and the chute controls do not work as intended. Popped open the chute controls and they are all plastic. Gears and plastic and cold? Not sure this joystick and plastic is going to have any longevity. Only using this item 10-20 times a year i expect it to be the 1st and last snowblower i buy. Going to replace the item at my inconvenience of course and keep my fingers crossed.
