About This Product

Tackle tough snow projects with speed and ease thanks to the Power Max 826 OAE. A 252cc Toro Premium 4-cycle OHV engine powers the blower, and with a 26 in. wide clearing width and 20 in. intake height, you'll be back to playing in the snow in no time. The innovative Quick Stick control allows you to quickly and easily change steel chute direction and chute deflector with a single, smooth motion. Convenient one-hand operation levers allow single-handed operation, freeing the other hand to change speeds or the chute control without stopping. Give your arm muscles a break with self-propelled automatic steering for smooth, tight turning without pulling or strain - no triggers or levers required. The exclusive Anti-Clogging System measures snow intake to reduce clogging and maximize clearing efficiency. Equipped with a hardened gears in your auger gearbox - there are no shear pins to replace. Instead, if the auger hits hard material, the engine will stall to prevent damage. Ideal for concrete, asphalt and gravel surfaces. And with Toro's 3-year limited warranty (residential only), you can rest easy knowing that you're prepared for anything winter has in store. Count on it.

A:  Hi, Brandon! Thanks for your question. This machine has adjustable skid shoes to get lower to the surface, if needed, and works well on 1-2" of snow as well as being able to easily handle up to 20" in depth. Thanks!

Q:Is the electric start cord included? I don't see it in the one I just received. I would hope it is for the price I paid.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Rick! Thanks for your question. No, an extension cord is not included with this unit #37798. To use the electric starter, connect a power cord to the plug-in first and then to a power outlet. Use only a UL-listed, 16-gauge extension cord recommended for outdoor use that is not longer than 50 ft (15 m). You can view more information on page 14 of the manual at: https://www.toro.com/getpub/217349. Thanks!

          Could be better
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The snowblower did what it needed to do, but it did get stuck with the snow blocking between the blades to the chute which caused it to stop running. Also, it was just used once and the rod attaching the blades is starting to rust. I don’t believe that this should happen only after one time for the price that was paid.

Powerful, in stock, minor QC issues. Cool joystick
My Ariens 28 croaked last year. Went to buy a new one end of January and the choices were Cub or Toro. I liked the joystick idea so took it home. Easily powered through 16-18" of accumulation. Auger lock doesn't work properly, auger also squeaks. Did some research, these are common and easy to fix QC issus. It needs to get to work so cant take it for warranty service right now. Overall, good price and works well but frustrating that the auger lock is not working day 1.

            Engine cratered in 30 mins
Assembly was easy. Add oil, gas, assemble, and this thing was ready to roll. The shoot adjustment joystick is pretty cool, but has a ton of plastic components that will rattle apart and break over time. After 30 minutes of operation, I heard a bang and then the auger wouldn't stop turning even when the lever was disengaged. Upon inspection, I found the drive belt had grabbed the retaining bracket and bent it in on the belt system. Shredded metal and belt everywhere. Just filed for a refund.

              Working Great So Far
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm starting into my 3rd winter with this snow blower and so far so good. I studied all the brands and models and asked for recommendations from friends and finally settled on this one. It is the maximum size and power that I can handle and get to all my deck and sidewalk areas. I have a 5' blower for my tractor that does most of the driveway work (my driveway is 1000' long). The Power Max is just for 2 large decks, sidewalks, and doing the edges of the driveway and around the house where the tractor has trouble. I replaced the two front skid plates with my own plates with skateboard wheels so as not to scratch my wood or stone decking - works great (see picture). I have a large, elevated wood deck and I walk the blower thru the house to get to it which sometimes accumulates large piles of snow that avalanche off the roof - (see picture). Undisturbed snow is easy but the avalanche snow from the roof consolidates and refreezes which then takes some manhandling of the machine to cut into it. The engine has plenty of power so once you cut into the pile it will throw just fine. I've never bogged it down. I spent some time evaluating electric blowers but I saw too many complaints about lacking power and having to wait for a recharge, so I went with gas. I see some review complaints about the engine not starting especially for the first time in winter, but I think that's probably due to lack of maintenance. In the spring I drain my gas tank completely and run the engine till it dies as per the instructions to make sure it's empty. Next winter I fill with high octane fresh non-ethanol gas and it starts right away no problem. The electric starter takes all the work out of it, but I have also used the pull-cord when I'm away from the house and that works fine as well - although I haven't tried that with an ice cold engine since I usually start near the house where I can plug in the starter. I can't think of anything to complain about so I'm giving it 5 stars.

                Quality issue
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this snowblower today rams new from my locale dealer and there was a bolt missing holding the belt cover down. Not a big deal went down to the hardware store and purchased one. The other issue I have is the plastic shroud below the spout had a bolt that was way over tightened and the bolt head is almost pulled through the shroud I’m certain it won’t last long. I have always heard that toro makes a high quality item. After these two issues I’m questioning it. Machine came out of the crate this way. Other than these two issues it looks like a great unit with some nice features

                  So far so good
Just picked this up and used it on the leftover snow left on my driveway. It was roughly 18 inches of snow from last month the snow storm plus this last snow storm from a week ago. So it was a very good test to see how well it would work. It performed very well. Chewed through the tough, partial ice patched snow pack. It chewed it up, threw it 20 away without an issue. Well built. What you typically expect from Toro. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for these days.

                    My Toro beast!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Runs like a champ. Now I need some snow! That being said, assembly instructions could’ve been better. Depended way too much on diagrams without supporting text (full disclosure, I’m a Technical Writer that does this for a living). Thankfully, I’ve owned a Toro snow blower (3521) before so I had some idea of what to expect and was able to guide a friend who bought the 24” version of this. I might’ve guaranteed no snow on my block this year, but if it comes, I’ll be ready.

Used it once this year and it got up the snow. They stuck the oil drain to close to the tire I know changing the oil will be a pain now.

                    Extremely disappointed with this purchase...
My Toro is a good example of why I hesitate to purchase American made products. Quality Control is just a term they like to use. I purchase this snowblower and the chute does not lock in place when I let up on the control button. So... look at the manual to see how I might fix something that should have been set correctly at the plant and find out that the image in the manual does not match what I have. I took it to the local warranty shop only to have them saw that this isn't under warranty because... it's an "adjustment." I guess if you buy a product, the internals of which wasn't assembled correctly at the plant, that's now considered a non-warranty "adjustment" to have it done correctly. At least point me to where I can purchase a service manual and I'll fix it myself. It'd also be helpful if the service manual diagrams reflected reality. The person at the warranty shop couldn't figure it out either after seeing the photos.
