Thank you for your review! These little bugs can get through the tiniest of openings to get towards the light. Please ensure that all screw heads, holes or tubing seams are covered with aluminum tape to prevent other insects from getting into the tubing. Please email us @ vcustomer.service@velux.com for instructions on how to remove the trim ring and diffuser to clean that area of that debris.

The light output can vary depending on a number of factors. On average, VELUX 14" Flexible Sun Tunnels should provide an approximate light output of 180 watts when the sun is at a 60-70 degree angle and approximately 80 watts when the sun is at a 40 degree angle. For optimal light output, please check that your tubing is secured tightly with no sagging. If you find slack in your tubing, reposition the tubing and secure the tunnel with the snap rings provided.

VELUX Sun Tunnels are covered by a 10-year product warranty against defects in material & workmanship. If your diffusers have warped, please email us details at vcustomer.service@velux.com so we can correct this issue for you. In terms of light appearance, we offer six decorative diffuser film options for current model VELUX Sun Tunnels. Adding a decorative diffuser will increase interior aesthetics and visual appeal. We would recommend that you add the Neutral Light Diffuser Film as this will help you achieve the lighting that you desire in that living space. The Neutral Light Diffuser Film is tinted to offer a warm light, similar to most artificial light bulbs, as opposed to the natural white daylight offered by the standard Sun Tunnel kits. We are sorry to hear this product did not meet your sizing needs. VELUX Sun Tunnels with Flexible Tubing are only available in a 14" sizing option, however, we do offer a similar model in with rigid tubing in a 10" sizing.

We were happy to hear that you were pleased with the light output that the VELUX sun tunnel provides. We are sorry to hear that you were not pleased with the interior diffuser design. We have noted your concerns about this component and have passed along that feedback to our product team. Many people read these reviews throughout our company and sometimes design changes are made as a result.

Once the trim ring is removed, there may be 3 or more little tabs that hold the diffuser assembly upwards in that ceiling assembly. Loosen those screws only slightly to push those tabs out of the way. (some sun tunnels have them, some do not) You may need to take a small, flat (or common) screwdriver to work the gasket and diffuser out from the assembly. Use a little Vasoline on the tip of the screwdriver to make this process a bit easier. Once you have that completed, you will need to check to see if the Sun Tunnel tubing in the attic space has any exposed seams, holes, tears or screw heads exposed. If you find those uncovered, please use aluminum tape to seal those areas. If you have a flexible tubing model-You may also want to check to see that the snap ring (ring that attaches tunnel to exterior & interior components) on both ends of the tunnel are secure. This will prevent any bugs or dirt from getting into that tubing space again. When VELUX Sun Tunnels are installed properly, they should not have condensation within the tunnel and should not transmit heat into that living space. The dead air space created within the tube is enough to insulate the installation from condensation and heat gain issues.

As a note: No insulation should be added around the tubing within the attic space. While this seems counter-intuitive, adding insulation around the tubing will result in condensation.
