Exactly what was needed.
I bought these over 12 years ago and am now specifiying them for a new build I am about to do for my employer. I installed the low profile in my home in a dark hallway and the middle of the kitchen. The first minute we installed them we loved them. We also love the moonlight that flows thru illuminating the kitchen and hall. An awesome buy!!!

What a difference
In the middle of a roof replacement decided to add a tunnel skylight. Our den was like a dungeon and now it is the brightest room in the entire house, without using electricity.

Very few sunny days since installation. I like the tube lights, so far but am hoping to get more/brighter sunlight when the weather is clearer.

Bugs and dirt
Had my 14” Velux flexible tube sun tunnels installed 4 years ago. Now removing popcorn ceiling and thought I would take down to remove bugs but meanwhile insulation has fallen between the glass layers and I can’t get it out. Looks much worse than before. HELP. Hate to think I will have to hire someone to take them out to clean, or to buy replacement glass every time they get dirty. Please tell me how to address this. I see other reviews have same issue but saw no solutions showing. Please help or should I just replace whole thing? In which case I would investigate other sources. I have recommended this product in past but not now.

We do have a bit of a guide to help you clean that debris away. With the trim ring, just press upwards and then rotate until it releases. Once the trim ring is removed, there may be 3 or more little tabs that hold the diffuser assembly upwards in that ceiling assembly. Loosen those screws only slightly to push those tabs out of the way. (some sun tunnels have them, some do not)
You may need to take a small, flat (or common) screwdriver to work the gasket and diffuser out from the assembly. Use a little Vasoline on the tip of the screwdriver to make this process a bit easier.
Once you have that completed, you will need to check to see if the Sun Tunnel tubing in the attic space has any exposed holes or tears in that tubing material. Please use aluminum tape to seal those areas. You may also want to check to see that the snap ring (ring that attaches tunnel to exterior & interior components) on both ends of the tunnel are secure. This will prevent any bugs or dirt from getting into that tubing space again.

lots of welcome light
Our 14 inch Sun Tunnels(2) have just been installed, replacing skytubes from another manufacturer that had started to leak. As far we are very pleased and surprised how much more light is available through the VELUX. They brighten an area that receives very little outside light, no windows, and gives the room a different and more inviting look. We are looking forward to many years of bright and trouble-free service.

The directions that came with my product were inaccurate, listed essential parts that were not included, included essential parts that were not in the directions, and made the installation difficult. Simply put, the instructions I got did not match the item I purchased. Some specifics: the directions call for the use of a plastic tie to connect the flexible tunnel to the ceiling ring, but the product included a second snap ring instead, which I had to figure out. That meant we needed to fold over both ends of the tunnel, but here wasn't enough tape included to cover the fold on both ends. The instruction to install the upper portion did not match the diameter opening we had. So somewhat frustrating.

Brings In So Much Light
We had two Sun Tunnels installed with our new roof. The main living area of our home was on the dark side. The Sun Tunnels make so much difference. The area is bright and seems so much larger. They look clean and modern. We love them and highly recommend.

increased light?
We installed 2 10" tubes with the frosted diffuser in our baths and they really don't bring in a lot of light. I am wondering if a different diffuser would bring in more light?

A lot of factors can contribute to light output expectations: ie tubing run distance, elbow angle and even tubing diameter. VELUX 10-inch Rigid Sun Tunnel Skylight system has an output of 64-150 watts (depending on the sun angle) whereas the 14-inch model with rigid tubing light output can be 290-340 watts. Replaced My Rigid Sun Tunnel with Flexible One
I replaced my roof a few months ago and have been a bit disappointed with the flexible sun tunnel. LOVED the rigid tunnel. Wanted to just replace the roof piece, but that wasn't an option. They do corrode, but there should be a replacement part for that. I had to replace the entire system, just for the boot piece. Had a great deal of light in the kitchen, but the flexible connector just doesn't have the same power. I wish I would have insisted the roofer put another rigid sun tunnel in. Also the old one had more of a clear attachment inside and the new one is quite opaque so that dims it more as well. I now have to turn on the lights much more than I used to. Is there a way I can get a clear cover or convert my flexible to a rigid system (it is a straight down shot from my roof to my inside cover)? I would give it a great big 5-star if I didn't have the old one to compare it to. If you have a choice, go with the rigid sun tunnel. Just so disappointed in the flexible one.

Fabulous!!
We have two of these in our house and are about to have a third one installed. They turn dark spaces into cheerful lighted ones. I am a 'daylight' craver so these fit my needs exquisitely.

Sun Tube
Really like the amount of light the sun tube has brought into our kitchen and stairway to the down stairs. I do wish there was a diffuser lens that provide a warmer color of light.

nice light but is the trim ring replaceable?
Enjoy the light provided by the sun tunnel...it provides great light. When attempting to remove the bugs according to the instructions, the trim ring broke. Is it possible to order just the trim ring as a replacement part?

(1) The flexible tube (tunnel) made assembly and installation fairly easy. The results are excellent, with abundant light to illuminate the room. (2) I recommend to anyone installing this model for the first time, before beginning installation, to lay all the parts out on a sufficiently large surface and develop an understanding of how everything goes together. Do this before reading the instructions. Teach yourself how the parts work and what the ultimate assembly will look like. (3) I believe the instructions need improvement, but if you first visualize the assembly you will be better able to understand and follow the instruction details. (4) There should be included with the instructions a template to use to draw the circle for the opening in the ceiling.
