Stirred well and applied with sponge brush. Did not come out clear but had tones of
Brown within the coats. Ruined my project!!

This goes on smooth and covers well. One of the best I have ever used. The results were better than expected.

Test it before you use it!
I'm sure this is a fine product, but I can't use it for the art project I bought it for. It is transparent, but not clear.
Tested on a paint stick with the same color as my background, it clearly has color to it.

Let's talk about this, Vicki! Rust-Oleum Varathane Oil-Based Spar Urethane has a completely transparent finish. However, like most oil-based wood finishes, it does have a warm, golden tone to it.

I use this for my front door that faces the sun in Alabama. I applied it twice a year with two coats. It did the job protecting the finishing of the door.

Applied easily, dried without any oily residue and seems to work well repelling water. Very pleased with this product.

Works
We used this to coat cedar we bought to use for stairs we built outback. Worked very well, I did four coats on all sides just to ensure a good covered finished. Curing takes time but worth it. The rainwater beads right off and very easy to clean. Not slippery either.

I would give it a 5 star but I really do not know much about what it. It worked as I thought it might could be a little thicker so not to drip as much .

Not happy with the finished product. Followed directions exactly and still ended up with a bumpy finish. Very disappointed.

Not clear
Says clear satin. It is definitely not clear. It has a brown stain to it. Seems to be fine as a polyurethane but I wanted clear. Thanks for ruining my project Varathane

Let's talk about this, Jake! Rust-Oleum Varathane Oil-Based Spar Urethane will offer a clear finish with proper application. However, since this is an oil-based wood finish, it will have a warm, golden tone to it. If wanting a crystal clear finish, we recommend Rust-Oleum Varathane Water-Based Spar Urethane instead.

I followed the directions meticulously but was left with brush...
I followed the directions meticulously but was left with brush marks on the final coat. Should have looked for Minwax elsewhere (which is what I used previously but HD no longer carries)?
