Excellent one-coat coverage. Deep, dark color that I was looking for.

This is my new favorite stain! This is super easy to apply, it is forgiving when you wipe away quickly, it builds color beautifully and the Red Oak Color was just what I was looking for.

I used the Varathane varnish to hide some "small mistakes" in my dit floor project. After applying some wood filler, I applied the varnish with a cotton swab. Great coverage! I plan on using it to stain my new shelving.

classic Varathane product, it goes on well, stains evenly. Easy clean up too. The color on my wood is like the color on the label.

Used this stain on a black locust outdoor chair and ended up looking really close to black walnut. 9.5/10

I saw in some of the reviews of weathered oak that it was actually grey. But I wasn't sure if it was just user error or what so ordered it anyway. When I opened it and stirred it up, sure enough, it is a dark grey color. I tested it out on a few different pieces of wood just in case and they all came back grey. Will need to try a different stain for my project.

In 2008 I decided on Varathane oil stain in Gunstock for all the trim, doorways and doors of our home. I did several sets of doors including eight bi-fold doors in this stain. Later (this month) we decided to remodel the family room and I purchased a new can of Gunstock stain as I needed to re-configure some areas. While this stain looks good and applies well it is nowhere near the same color of the original Gunstock stain we used. I called the Rust-oleum help desk and they were no help without the original can we used. The old stain was brown-ish with hints of yellow and the new stain is what I would call Redwood.

It’s a little expensive for such a little can. It was our first time staining anything though and it did extremely well! Super smelly, though. Major headache from the fumes.

I purchased 2 cans to compare colors on my wood nightstand. I bought Special Walnut and Early American. Special Walnut is supposed to be darker and less red than Early American but it wasn't. I feel like the cans were mislabeled or the color is off.

I used this product on a work bench top and it turned out beautifully.

Used this recently on a set of 4 TV stands I made for new TV's in the house. Works great and even better with the pre-stain.

The stain was somewhat darker than the label, but nothing I can can't live with. The real problem is the long-lasting and horrible smell. It took 2 weeks for the smell to become somewhat manageable. If your project requires indoor use, you've be warned.

The color is a beautiful brown.

Horrible ! Never dries. It been over 24 hours floors are still super tacky! The smell OMG! IS EVER LASTLY HAVE ALL MY WINDOWS OPEN AND IT STILL SMELLS! DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT GUYS YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I appreciate the ease of use and product consistency. If I run out in the middle of a project I know I can get an additional can and it will blend in perfectly.

This color isn’t even close to what it is shown in pictures. First warning; it’s very grey, and very streaky and horrible looking. We sanded down my client’s original hardwood floors, and applied 2 coats of this stain. The first coat was a tad grey, but not terrible, but the second coat was horrible. So streaky, so grey, and just very dirty looking. A horrible product, my clients floors could have been completely ruined and it added multiple days on to our project trying to salavage them.

The color weathered oak advertised on the can is not even close to what comes out. It is literally the greyest grey I’ve ever seen. I did a test run on the bottom side of my accent table and immediately with the slightest amount of stain I could already tell the color was way off. Very disappointed.

Used this for our floors. Turned out better than expected.

Perfect red color as I was custom mixing with a cherry stain.

I shook the product for a long time, thought this was enough. When I stained my product, but was then getting to the bottom. The thick, unmixed stain on the bottom started leaving a dark stain. Bad outcome. The product is fine, but know that shacking isn’t enough. Open it and stir it well.

I used this on a very weathered entry door. It made a dramatic difference in the appearance. Looks great now.

Excellent product. I usually use minwax
