The mat is effective. Last year it took my tomatoe seeds to germinate almost twice longer with the tay on the floor. Now I just had to connect the mat in a regular 120V outlet and voilà, a warm mat is created to set my tray on.

Mine is doing a great job. I've had it for almost a week. It's warm, but not so warm that the soil dries out during the day while I am at work. I added a photo of my broccoli and kale, which germinated in only two days, and which is great because I am a little behind schedule to get my seedlings into the ground outside in early April.

This seed propagating heat mat arrived well packaged and in good time. It is smaller than I thought. It is about as wide as a dish remote control. It is supposed to heat a standard seedling tray. When plugged in, the mat heats to about the low setting on a regular heating pad. The one problem I had propagating seeds this spring was poor root development. This heating mat is supposed to solve that problem by keeping the root zone warm. I can't wait to try it next spring.

Some of my cacti seeds require very warm temperatures to germinate, which is why I purchased the seed heating mat. I made a make-shift greenhouse by putting the mat on the floor of an aquarium. Seeds that required higher temperatures were placed on the bottom. Seeds that didn't require as much heat were elevated on a shelf so they could receive indirect warmth. The elevated seedlings have had a decent germination rate. The seeds directly on the mat are known for difficulty in germinating. They are taking a little bit longer.This mat provides great indirect heat. I have a plexiglass lid on the top of the aquarium to contain the heat.

Inside temp was 65deg with the seedling heat mat seeds had sprouted in three days. Another tray of seeds took 8 days to sprout without the heat mat. I will get more mats for early spring planting.

If it wasnt for this product I dont think my plants would be any where near this far along. A great way to get a head start when the Michigan weather wont let spring come early.

I use these in my house,(I keep house very cool) shelves are metal racks I think the heating pads were challenged in keeping seed trays warm, when I stacked my seed trays on something to get them closer to the lights (piles of news paper) then they kept seed trays warm, plants love these I'am having great results.

Wy wife planted bok choy, arugula and spinach on Dec. 10. The heat mats arrived Dec. 16. From the original planting the bok choy did not sprout. Replanted and on the heat mats it came up evenly in 3 days. This is a very worthwhile apparatus if you like fresh winter produce as much as we do.

I have been using these heating mats for 3 months now. I use them constantly to heat up my Kombucha while it is fermenting. No problems at all! And my digestion is Great!
