A very powerful air purifier for the size. Took me 5 mins to have this up in my bedroom from right out of the box. Comes with 3 extra Carbon filters. Weight of this unit is very reasonable. Carried it up stairs with no problem. Have a very self explanatory face with buttons. Covers 360 sq ft of space which is great. Used best for home use not commercial. Has a HEPA filter which filters out dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, mold spores, VOC (volatile organic compounds) and household odors.

As a Safety Engineer, I know how important it is to keep the air in your house clean. We breath 20.9% oxygen, 78% nitrogen and the rest is just "other stuff." That being said, a HEPA filter is the only way to go when trying to mitigate the junk we breath. This not only has a HEPA filter, but also a carbon filter, and even a third filter/screen just to keep the other filters clean from debris; meaning if something nasty is in your air, this will take it out. Once the air flows through the filters, it is redistributed cleanly through the vent on top of the unit. What I really like is that you can adjust the fan speed to four different speeds (low to high), and you even have a sleep mode to shut off the lighting and drops the db lv to almost nothing. Even with the fan on high, I don't find the noise all that loud. The coolest feature about this purifier is the three light system. If you put this unit on automatic mode, the fans will adjust themselves automatically depending on how dirty the air is. For example, if I vacuume near this, the red light comes on indicating that there is a high concentration particulates in the air, so it will automatically turn the unit on high, but if there is a low about, it turns orange. The fan will lower to a medium rate, but if the air quality is good, it stays blue. This also happens when the dog walks and/or stirs in front of it. The plasma wave technology can also be turned off with a push of a button. I was first concerned of ozone, but what this unit puts off is far below what the EPA recommends for this type of unit. It also comes with a remote which is very handy, and not to mention, it really looks nice. If you have allergies, smoke or just feel that your air quality is not at its best, I 100% recommend this product. P.s, thanks for the fast shipping!

I personally love the 5500-2 plasma wave air cleaner. I picked up this air cleaner for my apartment because every time I open my front door or windows my apartment gets consumed with the smells coming from my neighbors homes. So far it really seems to be doing the job. I leave it running while I am home but I definitely notice a difference in the air quality when I return home even after it has been off.

Returned. Product light turned on but motor did not work

The design is streamlined, fits in without being a focal point, is quiet and works well. The delivery was disappointing because the box was damaged in multiple places and the unit had a small dent where one of the holes in the box was. The manager said they could order another one but there was no guarantee that it would be delivered any differently. So, I kept it.

I’ve tried different brands of air purifiers but none worked as good as this one. I’m very sensitive to exposure to pollen, house dust allergens and airborne particles and this device performs by far superior than others. Very satisfied with the purchase

Well made, easy to maintain, easy on the eyes in the living room. I vacuum all 3 filters weekly. (We get lots of dust living near major hwy.) Just purchased 2nd unit for the bedroom end of the house.

This air purifier saved the day during the sale of my home.  I just brought home a pet a week before I knew I was going to put my home on the market.  It stayed continuously running, best of all is the energy efficiency.  I recommend this product to anyone who is occupying their home while up for sale.

Had it since beginning of Covid through the very smoky skies of autumn 2020 in California.  We still love it. Easy to use, quiet at night, easy to clean.

Took away the stinky dog smell! Our labs live in our house, they don't smell per se, but their dog food does. They have to eat a special Catfish dog food..yuck. Anyways, this thing works wonderfully!

Second one I have baught. I love them. Clean the Air. No trouble sleeping at night.

We have two in our house, two at my Son's house. They are quiet and easy to own. I have also given them to clients as a baby shower gift idea.

Best air purifier I've ever owned. Love the Auto feature which controls fan speed base on air quality & powers on/off based on lighting in the room. Also love that the filters are washable!(All filters except the Hepa filter which are never washable.)

Have not had it long enough to speak to the maintenance, but so far it is doing an excellent job cleaning the air.

Before purchasing this, i did my usual process of reading everything possible about different models. This one seemed to have the most features. I wasn't expecting it to make quite the change that it did. I was used to waking up with a runny nose and watery eyes. This purifier has made that so much better.

Cleans very well, filters easy to clean. Been running on auto for a few months and happy with performance.

Purchased an air quality sensor to check performance. This unit made VOCs actually increase in the room even after running for hours… our other hepa air filter actually reduces the VOCs in the room easily within less than an hour. Same result, multiple days and multiple rooms. This particular brand/filter is useless.

The motor on the air purifier was noisy, and the construction was flimsy. Absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life from the Winix company.
