Pros:Sturdy design and good quality materials and construction. Cons:There are weld beads in the ID's of the tubes that constrict the bore and contribute to clogging of the soil plugs that need to pass through the tube.Comments:The tool would be much more functional if the tubes were conical (slightly tapered) with a larger ID at the top. This would help prevent frequent clogging and eliminate the issue with the ID weld beads constricting the passage of soil through the tubes. This would also mimic the proven design of power rotary lawn aerators.

It does its job, I am satisfied. Before using this tool, you need to water the lawn then the soil is soft and easy to do aeration. It is a lot of exercise to do just a small area.

It did not remove dirt plugs, instead it just got clogged. I had to clean the holes out with each stab into the earth. I tried with damp soil (like directions indicated), dry soil, very wet soil; all ended up with the same clogged holes.

Not much can go wrong with a manual tool. The welds look very good. You wet the ground, push down on the aerator and it bores out two plugs. Next time you push down the first two plugs are ejected. Works great. You can do three to six operations per minute. The picture in the instructions is wrong. They show pushing the last plugs out from the top. The boring tubes are slightly tapered and are smaller at the bottom. Push the last plugs out from the bottom up. They come out easier that way. Comparing the plugs to my neighbor's plugs (who uses a lawn care service for his aeration), they are the same.

It worked very well. At age 63 it took me a little time even on my small front yard. I would buy it again.

The yard Butler core Aerator comes fully assembled and I just got it a few weeks ago. Remember to use Gloves to protect your hands from getting calluses the rubber handles don't offer much protection. I didn't after using it for 30 mins and noticed The calluses on my palm of one of my hands then on came the gloves and made it easier on my hands. Kidd you not it's a workout so get ready to sweat. It took me an hour just to do the front of my yard which measures approximately 40x30 give or take. But it's easy to use take your time and make sure your foot is properly placed when you press down on it into the ground. I live where the soil is Sandy So it's best if you wait after it rains or hose it down a little before you start. makes it easier to make the holes on the ground. Overall very happy with it and I saved a lot of money doing it myself instead of hiring a company to do it for me.

This product worked as well as was demonstrated in the video. I had to water the grass beforehand in order for the aerator to sink into the ground easily. To unclog occasional jams, I had to turn the aerator upside down and unclog from the bottom, as there is a slight lip around the bottom holes.

Does the job with a little muscle
I live in SC and it worked great on my small yard. For $25 you can't beat it. You couldn't rent a machine for over twice that price and now I own the tool I can use over and over. A no brainer for me

This aerator works great. Works best by just using the handle and thrusting it into the ground. I did an area 25x25 feet in about 15 minutes. Works just as good as a power aerator but slower due to the limitations of the operator. Nice part is you can go at your own pace, and do trouble areas any time dry spots appear. It is always available. Tool cuts 2 nice plugs each time. The tool is designed to work well. The only time you need to clean out tool is when you are done for the day.

Works very well. Make sure the soil is a little moist. Didn't have any issue with dirt getting stuck in the cores. The new cores will push that dirt right up thru the top. Just power thru it.
