The Best Gift for the Best Hostess

Ever since I was a child my mom loved hosting family and friends. One of her superpowers is bringing our family together (which is very large btw). My mom is one of nine siblings who all lived under the same roof, so you can imagine that her life was always one big event everyday. Fast forward to today and my mom’s house is the neighborhood hangout spot. Her door is always open and somehow her food never runs out.
During her events, she always complains about her double-sided fridge and how it doesn’t have the capacity to hold all her cooked foods, spices, juices, sauces and whatever else she uses to concoct her delicious dishes. Ever since she saw my french door refrigerator and how a simple layout can change the way you store food, she would drop hints to her husband that she really wanted one. So, I was happy when The Home Depot reached out to do a collaboration on holiday gifting and holiday decor. My mom is so deserving of a new fridge to help her do the thing she loves most.

So one day, my husband and I picked her up and told her to come with us to The Home Depot to see her new fridge and pick out some holiday decor for her kitchen. She was so excited and was waiting for us at the door. She fell in love with the LG French Door Refrigerator. It’s very roomy, especially since the ice maker is in the freezer drawer, so the fridge portion holds a lot more food items.
She loves it! It only took a few days to arrive and be professionally installed by a dedicated Home Depot team. They unpacked everything, assembled it, hooked all necessary water lines, set it in place, got it running and showed her some features. The moment they left, she started loading it up. And that week she went grocery shopping to fill it up some more.
Time to Deck the Halls
After the refrigerator was set up, Jasen and I came back over to decorate her kitchen with all the Berry Bliss holiday decor we bought at The Home Depot in store (you can also get items online as well). My mom has an opening at the top of her cabinets, so we decided to line all of her cabinets in garland. She already has nine-foot ceilings and adding the garland just makes her space feel even taller as it draws your eyes upward.
In addition to the garland, we also added these red velvet bows to the back of every counter stool. I just love the uniformity.
She has a pantry door that needed love as well, so we hung the matching wreath to the back, also in the Berry Bliss collection.
My mom already had a couple clear vases that I liked and we saw these beautiful red ornaments in store that I thought would look lovely inside them. So, we added them to the different vases and trays that she always has sitting out. This is an affordable and easy way to add holiday tabletop decorations.
Then, of course we showered her with more gifts. We got her a Kitchen Aid mixer and a nice stainless steel ten-piece cookware set, all from The Home Depot. But, my mom is so generous she gave my cousin the Kitchen Aid mixer and my sister the new pots. She’s in the holiday spirit early!
That weekend we had so much fun gathering in my mom’s kitchen, making traditional Caribbean dishes (my mom is from Guyana), singing and of course lots of laughing. If there’s a mom or hostess in your life, go to The Home Depot either online or in-store and grab them the perfect gift. Also while you’re there, get a little decor for yourself!
