A Note From The Home Depot
As kids get older, they start to typically want a space to grow with them. Jordan of @jordansamsondesign has a niece that is heading into Kindergarten, and he wanted to celebrate by upgrading her to a big girl’s room! Read below to see how he transformed her bedroom to the room of her dreams all with the help of The Home Depot.

My niece is heading off to kindergarten this year, and I wanted to give her an entirely new bedroom to celebrate this new chapter. We had so much fun together picking and choosing all the different elements to bring it to life. She had some very specific requests that we needed to meet!

This room already had great bones, with a window nook just begging for some built-ins. Flanking the window with built-in bookcases will create a beautiful focal point and add much-needed storage. We opted to DIY the built-ins using two of these bookcases that have a mix of closed and open storage – perfect for hiding all the extra clutter that kids accumulate. We raised them ever-so-slightly and created a false box on the top to make them look custom.

For the walls, we went with 6-inch tongue and groove paneling that runs halfway up the walls that we finished with a simple moulding. My niece’s number one request was a “Frozen Blue” paint color, so after sampling over 20 blues we settled on a beautiful, Behr light pastel blue or the wall paneling, trim, doors, and built-ins! For the top half of the walls, we chose this adorable, fairytale-inspired wallpaper.

One of my favorite moments is this metal bed frame that blends seamlessly with the wall paneling, and a bed canopy like this just takes it to the next level. We mixed and matched different bedding sets to achieve a really curated look – I adore the subtle pop of gingham from this Company Store bedding set against the super soft butterfly quilt!

The true magic is in the little details, like swapping out the builder-basic outlet covers for these brass covers and adding all-new lighting – a timeless schoolhouse-inspired ceiling fixture and rattan wall sconces.

I’m in love with all the accent pieces we added, like the rainbow and scallop baskets, the decorative pillows, and let's not forget this super adorable bean bag chair. These elements truly bring the space to life, and she couldn't be happier!
