The boards are already primed and ready to paint.

Can these be used as kitchen backsplash?

Asked by Clb2011 May 24, 2021

Answer

They are made of pine wood. To use as a backsplash you would need to make sure they are not too close to splatter or grease/flame.

This is Solid wood material. So be aware those planks has bigger tolerance in thickness a width than MDF or plywood boards. Solid wood also has some tensions, so many planks are not as straight as for example MDF or plywood boards. Do not expect to have nice and even gaps between those wood boards. Also, I have used Polyurethane Construction Adhesive to the walls to prevent warping. So you have to put a lot of efforts to got some good result. I suggest the quality of this product can be and should be improved.

Love this!
I had holes in my drywall that I didn't want to repair. I used shiplap as a way to cover them and love the result. It's easy to paint and looks amazing!

Shiplap Board
These are fantastic - we've gone through over a hundred doing the walls and ceiling of our hallway and an accent wall in our master bedroom of our house we are renovating. We cut these to length, put on Liquid Nail, then attach these to the wall with brad nails and it has worked incredibly well. In our previous house, I had made shiplap by ripping sections of 5mm underlayment. This looks a ton better. It also paints well. You can easily notch these to go around outlets, frames, and fixtures. These come pretty straight, nothing that can't be bent out when attaching these to the wall.

Bumpy with drips from primed factory paint
not a smooth primerd surface has drips and many imperfections from factory had to sand alot to get the smooth finish for gloss oil spray coat. Disappointed as it was worth the price if I did not have to do all the extra labor before painting but it was not up to parr. Looks great installed because I do remodeling work for a living and was able to fix the problems it had. Also the ends where cut on a slight angle from the factor witch wasted material and was another step at the saw in areas i could have gotten away with if not for the angle on it. Was cheaper then shiplap I've seen but was still a lot of money to spend when other materials can be used with similar results.
