Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
This store recycles all shrink wrap, contributing to the 780 million pounds that The Home Depot has sold to Trex in the past. This is used for composite decking materials, bringing us one step closer to a circular economy.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

What are some non-scary Halloween ideas for kids?
For a holiday that's not spooky, find Halloween yard decorations that are kid-friendly. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Remember to update your decor as your kids grow older and braver.
Why should I get a generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making less noise when they create less power. When shopping for generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Ready your home for winter weather by replacing or repairing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for major repairs later. Check brick and cinder block for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Lastly, replace chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're in poor condition.
What are some storage solutions for a crowded holiday home?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow what you don't need to enjoy extra space. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Take summer belongings out of the equation with shoe storage and other storage bins. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the right amount of space.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent present for any occasion or during the holiday season. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. You can purchase them at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can visit the College Point Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Our gift cards can be used to shop online or redeemed in-store with no additional fees.
