Can I rent a flatbed truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go cargo van, pickup truck, or flatbed truck. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You could also read our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is in stock at your favorite store.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before choosing your truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
