The Home Depot Rental Center at Edison

Tool Rental
Jump into your next DIY project with confidence and the correct tools. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Edison expand your toolbox with the items you don't have at home. Rent a tool and return it when the job is done. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, we have used tools available for purchase. Compared to the new items on our store shelves, they're discounted.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, upgrade your insulation in the spring, if possible — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated properly. It'll keep the house cooler this spring and summer, then continue working year-round. You'll enjoy warmer temperatures in the winter, too, which can lessen heater usage.

Tame the Lawn and Bushes Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the sidewalks and driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.

Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep flatbed trucks and box trucks on hand — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet at certain stores. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, DIY, and storage, it's smart to make us your source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular tool, large equipment, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your local store. For more information on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent large equipment or a tool by the hour?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and long-term jobs aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a few hours?

Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before choosing a truck.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to go get my rented large equipment?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get dinged with a late fee.
