Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by repairing or replacing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're in poor condition.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
