Recycling at The Home Depot

Did you know?

eco_image

Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.

eco_image

This store recycles all shrink wrap, contributing to the 780 million pounds that The Home Depot has sold to Trex in the past. This is used in composite decking materials, bringing us one step closer to a circular economy.

LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.

Frequently Asked Questions About Your Store

Do you offer moving Halloween decorations, ones with sound, or animatronics?

Yes, we carry several options of Halloween decor that move and make noise. Our Halloween animatronics bring frightening characters to life. Bring the scare level of a haunted house to your own home. This includes current favorites like Dean the Deathologist and Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton. For additional drama, use a fog machine or two to hide the animatronics until they start to talk. Become part of the scene by lurking in a Halloween costume and jumping out to surprise trick-or-treaters.

Do I need a generator?

We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When browsing generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.

What home repairs should I make before it gets cold?

Make sure your home is ready for cold weather by replacing or repairing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be looking at trouble. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Lastly, replace chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're damaged.

Are sheds or garage cabinets better for storage?

As you prepare for the holidays, stow what you don't need to enjoy extra space. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Moving blankets can protect fragile items as they're packed together. Shoe storage and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty.

How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?

Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent present for birthdays, housewarming parties, and the holidays. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. Purchase gift cards at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Our gift cards can be used to make purchases online or redeemed in-store with no additional fees.
