If you're a vet or a pro, don't expect a discount.
I am a veteran. I am a self employed carpenter. I have a pro card. I have the app on my phone. This trip, I spent $470+. I received a $5. discount. I was told, they don't discount lumber or paint. I don't know if they would have done better at the pro desk but there was a long line there and only one associate on the pro desk. So I went to the regular register. Although the young lady cashier was nice, (that's why 2 stars, otherwise 1) she couldn't or wouldn't do anything else. I didn't have time to speak with someone else so I just chalked it up to a learning experience.

Customer Service Spotlight: Mo at Home Depot North Durham #3632
I want to sincerely thank Mo for going above and beyond to assist me yesterday. When my contractor needed to place an order by phone, I was nervous I’d have to drop everything and drive to the store. Mo changed that entirely:
• Instead of brushing me off, he explained the store’s policy clearly.
• He took it further — locating and talking to a manager to approve the sale over the phone, saving me a trip while I was working from home.
• Throughout, he was professional, respectful, and truly helpful — a rare find in today’s retail world.
Mo’s customer service was exceptional, and his willingness to go the extra mile reflects exactly what great service should be. It’s associates like him who reinforce Home Depot’s reputation for attentiveness and care. Research even shows Home Depot staff often outperform competitors in customer service, partly due to meaningful employee incentives.

Exceptional Return Experience
Peaches at returns has exceptional customer service skills.
In the retail world now this hard to find. Easy to find people on their phone, roll their eyes and not acknowledge you, as if I'm an inconvenience.
Peaches is just the opposite. Said Hello with a smile immediately. And explained the return process, since I had 10 items.
Peaches even remembered me as a customer.

Friendly employees and great customer service
I ordered an under the counter light fixture and the customer service lady was very friendly and knowledgeable. She keyed in the order and even offered to make a note to call me when the order arrives at the store. Excellent customer service!

Going to give Home Depot another try
I had stopped going to Home Depot for a while because there were never enough employees to assist anyone. Recently, I decided to give it another try and although they did not have the specific item I was looking for. I did pick up some other things and was assisted by employees.

Friendly clerk
Clerk commented on my flower selections and offered plastic to put down in my car to prevent soiling from the plants. Small things, but really makes a difference.

Products in electrical that don’t work based on design limitations/applications code
I bought a tamper resistant/ weather resistant gfci that is too big to fit in an outdoor rated metal box for residential applications. This is not the only time I’ve purchaed electrical products that can’t be used in thier intented applications.
I also previously installed an outdoor outlet box cover that did not meet electrical code and resulted in a failed inspection.
Be great if they would ha e their products reviewed by a licensed electrician and removed items from shelves that don’t meet code and/or are effectively unusable in their application

Hard to Get Help
We needed a new appliance, but no staff member waited on us until I went to one who was not busy (she was on her phone). Then she disappeared. Despite several customers needing help, no employee was in the area for 15 minutes, despite being paged to come help.

Intolerable
I purchased a door in January. The install was scheduled for April. The installer was to arrive between 1 - 3. He showed up at 5:15PM WITH THE WRONG SIZED DOOR!! A week later and no one has contacted me to reschedule & I can't get thru to anyone.

Store is pretty good, where are the staff?
Seems like there are some good solid staff at this store, but there seem to be less of them all the time and like many people, I wish that Home Depot CEOS and CFOS would stop trying to get rid of cashiers by adding these self checkouts. Cashiers have far more value in assisting and guiding customers than just getting you out the door. If it was my company, I'd pay more people to work in the store and stop buying crappy computers and making customers check themselves out. If you want us to check ourselves out, pay us for it. Otherwise this store does pretty well with it's limited staffing. If there were any less staff I don't know how it would stay running.

Exemplary customer service
I was desperately looking for a T26 christmas tree (Home Decorators Duchess). I was calling around 6:15 am last Wednesday, 11/13/2024, and Mike answered my call.
The system showed 4 trees in stock. I asked Mike if he could eyeball them as I live in Wilmington, NC. He checked and told me they weren't there.
About 10 minutes later, Mike called me back and told me he found them. It blew me away that he continued to look, found them, and called me back. I consider this exemplary customer service, service like is not often experienced these days.
As I am a pro customer, he handed me off to Jeremy, where he helped me with the final arrangements to get up there and get those trees. Just like Mike, Jeremy was spot on in the way that he took care of me.
To the store manager, you have two EXCELLENT employees in Mike and Jeremy. Hopefully you will commend them for the way they took care of me.
BTW, my wife was elated to find out that I had found those two trees.
Thank you MIke and Jeremy for the fantastic experience!

Jim in kitchen cabinet design
Working with Jim in the kitchen cabinet design and sales department was an unexpected delightful experience! I am a 73 year old interior designer and architect who usually has to be the………on the………You fill in the blanks! Thanks Jim! Hubby and I LOVE our new kitchen cabinets!
