Can I rent a moving truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go flatbed truck, cargo van, or pickup truck. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You can also read our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is available at your store.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before selecting a vehicle.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
