Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut down energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like wind and solar.

Do you carry big outdoor Halloween decorations?
We offer several types of huge outdoor Halloween decorations, including several life-sized animatronics. Make your front yard the spookiest on the block with giant Halloween decor options, including skeletons, reapers, and witches. Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton, and Dean the Deathologist, a dapper bartender, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables are low-commitment decorations that make a high impact. Blow them up when you're ready to show your nighttime Halloween spirit and deflate them during the day.
Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Make sure your home is ready for cold weather by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could have problems. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
Are sheds or garage cabinets better for storage?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Moving blankets protect fragile items. Shoe racks and other storage bins remove summer belongings from the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent choice for birthdays, housewarming parties, and the holidays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to receive and to give. You can purchase them at our brick-and-mortar stores or online at homedepot.com. If you receive a gift card, you can visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Our gift cards can be used to shop online or redeemed in-store with no additional fees.
