How do I rent trucks or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. Can I rent a tool by the hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and bigger jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before choosing your vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
