How can I fix drafty windows?
As the years pass, windows settle and may not fit as snugly as they did before. Check if they're drafty by bringing a steaming cup of tea to the window. If you can see the steam swirl around the window, the cold air is getting in. Fill obvious spaces around windows with caulk. If your windows aren't snug in the frames anymore, use foam tape, weather stripping, or even a window insulation kit with sealing film to keep out cold air. Replace the windows as soon as possible.

What are good wintertime DIY projects?
When the temperatures drop outside, it's challenging to work out in the elements. However, a chilly day might be a good time to rake leaves or give the mulch in the garden a stir. An afternoon organizing and cleaning the shed or garage will pay off when spring comes. You won't have to replace lost tools because you can find what you've got. Polish up the tools, clean the rest of the house with cleaning supplies, and you'll be ready when the weather warms.

How do I prepare for snow and freezing temps?
When you live in a region where snow may occur, it's smart to upgrade or organize your snow removal equipment before a big storm hits. Check that the snow blower is working and accessible, then oil up the snow shovels. Don't forget to get out the sleds for the kids, and prep ice melt or salt and a salt spreader. Ensure your outdoor spigots are drained and covered, too, with all garden hoses disconnected. Basic preparations like these keep you ready for whatever winter weather brings.

Are Kids Workshops offered at the Southlake Home Depot?
Yes, the Southlake store offers in-person Kids Workshops. These in-store events are free and take place every first Saturday of the month between 9am–noon. Registration for kids workshops is now available online and secures your spot at the event. Each month features a unique and exciting new kit pack to keep little doers engaged. Kits include all necessary craft materials, kit instructions, certificate of achievement, stickers, an apron pin, and a Discovery Education extension activity. Any required tools, such as paint, are provided at the workshop. Customers who prefer not to participate in the in-person event can pick up their free kit in-store or order online at our Kids Projects Activities page to have it shipped to their home. Call us or visit our customer service counter to order your kit.

How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular present during the holiday season or for any special occasion. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. Purchase them at our brick-and-mortar stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can visit the Southlake Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Poor Service and the doors are Locked!
On the doors of the store it says store hours 6-10pm Then there is a note on the door 6-9pm. Well its 8:15 pm and the doors to the pro desk are locked. You have to go all the way to the other side of the building to get in. If your open til 9pm then all doors should be open. Is it really Necessary to have all of these carts of stuff in the isles where you can’t even get his stuff.

            Amazing Customer Service!
I recently purchase some items from the flooring Department at this store, and I'll be honest previously when shopping at Home Depot the first thing I thought of was not customer service but I do love the products you carry, but this trip changed my outlook! Halley in the flooring Department went above and beyond, she was fantastic! Ivory, her coworker was great as well! They changed my opinion on the customer service Home Depot provides!

              Happy Shopper
The Merrillville store has never been a disappointment. The employees are helpful and knowledgeable and never makes you feel like they are rushing you so they can leave and go do something else

                Rude employee
I bought paint. Your employee in the department was very rude. Did not acknowledge me standing there until.she chose to. Got snotty when I did not want tomput my phone number in the system to remember my purchase and literally out the finished paint down and even though I was standing five feet away never spoke and walked away.
