What additional precautions is The Home Depot taking in light of COVID-19?
The adjusted hours give stores the ability to staff appropriately and provide additional time to restock shelves and perform cleaning. As part of our normal practice, our stores and other facilities are cleaned and sanitized daily. Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we've increased the frequency of cleaning and general hygiene maintenance in stores and other locations. We've also stepped up our efforts to disinfect high-traffic and high-touch areas like self-checkout, door handles, and bathrooms, as well as posting signage about handwashing and other preventative actions.
We're promoting social distancing in our stores and distribution centers, which includes stores limiting the number of customers inside at any given time. In addition to training our associates on social distancing, we've placed distancing markers at some of our checkout counters and are making overhead announcements on our store PA systems asking customers to practice social distancing.

This store was a complete chaos, it is difficult finding an employee to assist and worst of all there was no order when the cashier situated by the drywall and plywood section randomly says she is closing. She remained standing there talking to a friend as ppl continued to line up before ppl randomly would walk up to her to ask what was going on, she responds with an attitude and just says find another open register and goes back to chatting with her friends not moving from her register which creates a newly formed line of customers who do not know what is going on and waiting for 15+ mins before she or a fellow customer tells them the register is closed. So now all the people with large heavy building items are trying to move from one end of the store to the other end to get on the end of another line that customers buying smaller items are on (you can imagine the chaos and frustration). Honestly I was waiting for someone to get hurt. It took a long time before a manager even bothered to get involved and when she did, she was clueless as to what was going on and why. It was a long wait and a horrible experience.

This store has items that other stores don’t keep in stock. This store is often short on staff however the staff that is working there are excellent! Their polite, courteous and accommodating especially Alicia in Customer Service. I wish her the best during these uncertain times and if I could give her a raise I would so since I can’t perhaps her boss can if he reads the reviews!!
