Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you offer big outdoor Halloween decorations?
Yes, we carry several gigantic outdoor Halloween decorations, including several life-sized animatronics. Make your front yard the scariest on the block with giant Halloween decor options, including skeletons, dragons, and witches. Dean the Deathologist and Skelly, the giant 12-foot skeleton, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables tend to be less scary and are an excellent choice for homes with children.
Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When considering different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by replacing any broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Check bricks and cinder block for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped if in poor condition.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Protect fragile items with moving blankets. Shoe storage and other storage containers take summer belongings out of the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent present during the holiday season or for any special occasion. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. Purchase them at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you receive a gift card, you can visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store. There are no additional fees to worry about.
