How do I rent a tool or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You may also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your local store. For more information on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions. Larger tools and all rental trucks require CLEAR verification.
Can I rent a tool by the hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or longer. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean any residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you may luck out and receive an excellent blade on a tile saw, for instance. As there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the truck, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. You'll go through CLEAR verification and its required selfie. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
