When it's time to make the leap into a big DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by the Decatur Rental Center for trucks, large equipment, and tools.

Rent the tools you need and bring them back when you're done. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.

Rent Post Hole Diggers, Shop Vacs, Floor Sanders, and More
Tackle serious projects with serious power tools. Revive your scuffed wood floors with a floor sander rental and a shop vac rental to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence faster and more efficiently with a rental auger, then utilize other concrete equipment rentals to suit the job at hand.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you get there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, check out these Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment and CLEAR verification.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before choosing your truck.

When do I need to return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean any residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Do saw rentals come with saw blades?

Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you may luck out and have a sharpened blade on the saw. As there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. All large equipment and select tools require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I receive my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to one of our knowledgeable associates for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
