How do I rent trucks and tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. Can I rent a tool for a week?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before selecting a van.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
