Questions & Answers

Is this also an organic natural pesticide like other neem oil concentrates?

Answer This Question

The Viagrow Neem oil is a OMRI certified organic cold pressed oil extract with a very high level of Azadirachtin. Azadirachtin is a natural insecticide derived from the seeds of the neem tree (Azadirachta indica), commonly used in organic farming and gardening. It works by disrupting the growth, reproduction, and feeding patterns of a wide range of insect pests, making it effective against aphids, whiteflies, caterpillars, and more. Due to its low toxicity to humans, animals, and beneficial insects like bees when used properly, it's a preferred alternative to synthetic pesticides.

    Great plant treatment
Neem Seed Oil extract is a strong concentrate that is great for plants. Helps cure all kinds of fungus and diseases. It is very safe to use around animals and humans. It breaks down easy with rain or watering. This helps it get to the roots and soil where so many bad stuff hangs out. It doesn't smell bad, so using it in the house is not a problem. Spraying on plants helps you pinpoint leaf eating insects. Controls mites, aphids, caterpillars and white flies. My plants are so much better.

Neem Oil is just a great pesticide for the lawn and garden
The Viagrow 64 oz Neem oil comes in two 32 oz bottles. That is enough to last me over a year. Viagrow actually recommends using the product within one year of opening. It is biodegrading once oxygen starts its thing. Neem oil is safe for humans and pets. It will stop plant eating bugs from eating or maturing. 1 TSP per quart of water, or 4 TSP per gallon of water. Plus, at 1.5 TSP of liquid soap to act as a surfactant (sticks to plants). I use this neem oil on vegetables, crepe myrtles (scale), roses (beetles and rust), etc. I appreciate knowing that I am not devastating the environment while getting rid of the insect horde trying to take my crops away!! This stuff is basically crushed up evergreen seeds from trees in India. Great product.

Works great for pests and fungus
I do organic gardening both indoors all year, and outside in spring, summer, and fall. I need something I can mix when needed to get rid of many plant devouring insects. Indoors, I usually have a spider mite and aphid problem from bringing plants in to over winter from my outside porch into my Florida room. Also this is good for some plant fungus. This is not foul smelling after mixing like some other kinds of insecticides and this is a natural product. I like that I can mix and spray it as needed, and it works well. Instructions for mixing is conveniently on the bottle. This is also not harmful to the beneficial butterflies, bees, birds, or other critters who visit my garden outdoors, and also not harmful to my indoor pets. I did have some trouble removing the inner cap from the bottle which I showed in the photo with the product in a paper bowl. There was nothing to grab on to, and getting something under the rim was difficult.

    Fantastic product!
I have used neem oil for 20 years and found it indispensable in an organic garden. I only use it as a last resort after trying other methods to deal with pests. Sometimes however, I have an infestation of aphids or cabbage worms or leaf miners that is so bad that I need a couple applications of neem oil. Usually that is all that it takes, and my problem is gone. Even though it is a method approved for use in organic gardens, I only use it as a last resort since it is may be harmful to beneficial insects if they ingest the dead bugs. I generally like to start with the easiest and safest method and proceed to stronger methods such as neem oil later. I generally mix up 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dish soap (Dr. Bronner’s) in a 16-oz spray bottle of warm water, then add a 1/2 teaspoon of neem oil. Sometimes it needs to be warmed up a bit, since it solidifies easily, but usually setting it in the sun for an hour will work. The dish soap helps keep the oil suspended in the water. Then, spray the mixture on all affected surfaces of the plant, shaking the spray bottle every minute or so. Make sure to spray both sides of the leaves. You may need to repeat this every couple days for a week or so to completely eliminate the pests. Avoid spraying on new seedlings or transplants, since they may be too delicate. You can safely use up to the day of harvest. I like using safer, natural products. Anything that smells like a chemical factory is probably going to be harmful to you as well as good and bad bugs, so I steer clear all of the chemical pesticides. Growing an organic garden is really no more work than a conventional garden, you just need a little bit of knowledge as to how things are interrelated, what works, and how things grow best. This is a great product and the undiluted oil has a very long shelf life. Can be used outdoors, in the house, or in greenhouses.

    Neem Oil
This oil has been used by my family in our vegetable and flower gardens. We are very pleased with the way it has kept insects of all varieties away for our plants. We have also used it on our shrub and around our rose plants. We have also sprayed this on our rhododendron bushes as well as our Azalea bushes. Neem Oil is a product that will always be in the Shed for our pest control.

I believe this works well for fungus and insect protection and is environmentally friendly. My only complaint is that I use it in a hose end sprayer that has multiple choices for application rates, and I find that I have to dilute the concentrate before I can get the correct application. It does take some math skills to get form concentrate to an application rate of 4 teaspoon per gallons. In addition, the material becomes semi solid at temperatures below 65 degrees. This wouldn't be a problem for someone in a hot climate, but that is not where I live. It is difficult to keep it in suspension when trying to apply it when it is below 60 degrees outside. However, this hasn't stopped me from reordering the stuff.
