Product Overview

This high quality and easy-to-install low-pressure kit eliminates hand watering or overhead sprinkler watering, which could lead to leaf blight on your leafy vegetables. The garden watering kit promotes large, healthy vegetables by watering directly at the plant root so your vegetables get more water while weeds get starved out. This direct root-watering method saves up to 70% in water use compared to traditional sprinkler heads.
  • Everything you need: kit contains 50 ft. of 1/2 in. distribution tubing, 50 ft. of 1/4 in. soaker tubing, 3-in-1 drip-lock adapter, 20 self-piercing couplings, 4 drip-lock elbows, 1 drip-lock t-connector, a 1-port single-dial hose faucet timer, and a tubing cutter
  • Conserve water: soaker tubing gets more water directly to the root base, while using less water than standard irrigation sprinklers
  • Save time: drip-lock fittings are faster to install than traditional fittings, but can also be easily removed
  • Flexible programming: watering cycle intervals can be set for anytime from once every 6 hours to once every 7 days
  • Manual watering: bypass the timer schedule for instant access to water by turning the dial to the on position
  • Rain delay: a rain delay is built into the timers run program function as another method to conserve water at every opportunity
  • Adapter included: the 3-in-1 adapter contains a pressure regulator, faucet to tubing adapter, and a filter, all in 1 piece
  • Battery operated: requires 2 AA batteries (not included)
  • Standard attachment: connects to a standard hose faucet or irrigation system
  • Tools included: the Orbit tubing cutter is easy on the hands, and makes installation a snap
  • For outdoor use and cold water only
  • For drip irrigation applications only

This system should be attached to the end of a hose. But we cut the end of our hose in order to make the hose tub connect to the system.

The valves will stay closed in the event of your batteries running out of juice. The timer display does include a Low Battery indicator that will alert you when you need to replace your batteries.

is the timer/regulator waterproof for exposure to weather

We aren't using the timer that came with this system because we already had a timer set up for our garden.

This irrigation system is good quality. It was very easy to put together, took approx. 30 minutes. Everything you need to get watering right away is included. It comes with a tube cutter that cuts easily and cleanly. Make sure that you fully pierce the tube when attaching the clip so water can enter. Be careful when connecting soaker tube to the clip so that you don't tear the soaker tube. This system does a good job watering, it's a soaker so you want it on more often for consistent watering. Using a system like this, is much better than watering your garden by hand.

This is a very good product. To use it properly it takes a lot of consideration and planning. The reason is you have to cut the hose at specific places in order to install the drip drain. Really The item itself is easy to use. Programming the timer is easy also. Everything seems to work very smoothly. So far my plants are receiving plenty of water without any waste.

This is a very comprehensive drip irrigation system and is good value for money. The battery operated timer is very easy to set up and use and allows watering periods from four times a day all the way to once a week. Along with the mini soaker tube that comes with the kit (rated at 3/4 gallons per hour), you can also purchase and add flag drippers and other irrigation fittings to water individual plants on the system to expand its versatility. This kit is designed to help water plants and vegetables at root level in a garden box and comes with 50’ of ½” main tube and 50’ of mini soaker tube. The instructions (which you can download from the Info and Guides section of Home Depot’s product webpage) show how to build a garden box sized watering grid using the supplied push fit elbows and ‘T’ connectors. In our case, we wanted to configure the system as a straight tube along the front of our new porch to keep various plants (vinca, rosemary, bottlebrush, crown daisies) watered. I was also able to lift a couple of the stone pavers from our walkway and lay the ½” tubing beneath them so we could water the plants on both sides of our porch. We created ‘loops’ of the mini soaker tube to run along the base of the vincas. I can recommend purchasing some of the wire stakes to hold the tubing in place as it tends to want to follow its curve even after it has been left out in the sun to soften it up a little. The self-piercing couplings are very easy to insert into the side of the plastic tubing and I found them easier to use than the bradawl style tool that I am used to using to pierce holes into the side of irrigation tubing. With the soaker loops set up, we added some ½ and 1 gallon per hour drippers which I had purchased separately. The 50’ hose was a few feet too short to reach our garden faucet so I had to grab a few feet of 1/2 “ tube that I had on hand. The tube cutters that come with the kit are very sharp and make trimming up the tubing very easy. My only complaint is that the push fit Orbit ½” Lock fittings aren’t available in store, so when it came to adding a terminator to the end of the ½” tube and a connector to join the two pieces of ½” tube together, I had to buy some Dig brand connectors from the local Home Depot store since buying the Orbit fittings on line from Home Depot was impractical from both a shipping time and shipping cost perspective. The Orbit Lock fittings are also re-useable however the supplied instructions don’t explain how to release them for re-use and you have to watch the video on Orbit’s website to see how this is done. With the tubing laid out, I then connected the faucet timer to our well faucet. There are two parts to this assembly; the timer and a pressure regulator fitting. I already own an Orbit brand irrigation timer and have found it to be the best available for the price. The two AA batteries will last all year (on a twice a day watering schedule) and the set up process is very intuitive. All you need to do is make sure that you have at least 25 PSI water pressure and no more than 100 PSI. With the batteries installed, you set the time and then use the dial on the timer to set the frequency, time and duration of the watering schedule. For four times daily, you use the ‘every 6 hour’ setting and for twice daily you use the ‘every 12 hour’ setting. During the winter, we remove the timer and store it indoors to protect it from freezing. The only issue I had with our installation was that there was a small hole in the soaker tube that allowed a jet of water to spray out instead of seeping out as it is supposed to. We had to trim this section out of the soaker tubing to fix the issue.

We decided to use this in a circle planter just outside the pool area. We have hard water and do not like sprinkling near the house. This kit for the price was more than I expected The timer was easy to program for a pleasant change. Comes with an manual override that does not require you to lose your automatic program. All the components are of good quality. It was easy to lay out and assemble. About 1 hour. Because I used it in a circle design I did not use all the parts. There were enough soaker line connection barbs to add more lines if needed. This configuration will require more soaker line than what came with the kit. Excellent value for the amount of space covered.

the timer is great. But the soaker tubing is terrible you end up with your seeds blown out by large holes in tubing or dry areas. Changing from soaker tubing to emitters.
