Can this be used around a vanity sink? Would it need to be sealed first? If so, what type of sealer would work?
Asked by: eileen
Yes you can install around a vanity. I would use a low sheen poly urethane to protect against moisture.

These are wood boards. I do not see a reason why you could not use them on the ceiling.

What options do I have if I wanted to hide the edges around a corner? Basically one side is not a closed section and is a corner that you can see.
Asked by: Rod
I used rough sawn pine from the trim isle. I then "White washed" the trim boards with a thinned-down paint with similar color as the planks. Brushed the paint on, then wiped it off to keep the woods grain visible. It may require a little trial and error to get the right match. Cut trim board to lenght, butt it up to the existing corner, and fasten in a similar way. I used 3" wide rough sawn wood to trim out my project.

Sure, some are not perfectly straight and have knots in them, but they work and look nice. They are weathered on both sides, so you can mix and match. We redid our own bathroom and painted the walls a light gray. Before I installed the new toilet, I did the wall from floor to ceiling behind it. It came out great and I only had to trim off about one inch on all boards. The boards come eight in a box and you can put them up fast as I did using my battery powered Ryobi nail gun I got from Home-depot. Some are a darker shade than the others and some edges are down right crooked. I solved this by putting them up on the wall by cutting them like you would wood flooring. I first installed them just one on top of the other and it just looked bad due to the Gaps between them. My son placed some on his fireplace wall and it came out great also. I would recommend these if you are just doing an accent wall.

I needed something to breakup my sons bedroom gray wall and stainless steel everywhere else, we are using it for an exercise room since he got an apartment and it just needed a facelift. Decided weathered boards would do the trick without painting I like the gray just to much of it.Put this on a closet wall with stainless sliding mirror doors and glass shelving, a nice change and great look and I can keep the carpeting its almost new. The boards are straight cuts well without tear out and very easy to install I just staggered the seams, but you can chose a different pattern you like. I scribed the ceiling row because of slight irregularities, used a sliding miter saw with a 100 tooth blade for all cross cuts and a table saw for the scribe cuts. I decided to brad nail the boards without adhesive but you can use both. Glad the weathered board look is getting so popular there are so many nice colors around to chose from. This is a really good product and I enjoyed working with it, and anybody could put this up.

I used these boards to make a decorative rustic reclaimed wooden accent wall in my den. Both sides of the boards have the weathered look with a slight textured finish and the edges of the boards are smooth and painted black. The edges of the boards are not perfectly straight so i suggest paining the surface that you nail these boards to a dark grayish color so any small gaps will be hidden. The boards were easy to put up and were easily cut with my miter saw. I attached them to the wall with a brad nail gun, although i'm sure they could also be attached with Liquid Nails. These boards have met all my expectations and If I decide to accent any more walls I would not hesitate to order them again.

This weathered board is not really weathered but chemically treated to appear weathered. However, it's in much better shape and there is no worry about mold, rot, or insects either. It is hardwood and more flat than I had expected. For anyone want to drive screws, I recommend tapping a hole with a drill before using an impact driver. I bought my boards to replace a headboard for a bed. Since then, I've made a picture frame and a few other decorative pieces. I'm going back to find some more color varieties!

The 1/2 in thick by 4 in wide and 4 ft. long Nantucket Gray Poplar Weathered Board (9-pack) is great for use in many craft projects or as designed for making a wooden accent wall... If using on a wall make sure to paint the wall a gray color before securing it, since all boards aren't exactly straight. (There will be small gaps between boards.) Either nail to studs or use an adhesive to attach to the wall. I prefer the tacking with nail gun for easy removal if need be.

I used the Nantucket gray poplar weathered board as an accent wall in my kitchen. It looks amazing! It is manufactured from northern Appalachian poplar. It’s kiln dried and washed to get this beautiful weathered gray....this is what I love about it. It is very easy to install. I used a brad nailer and liquid nails to put mine on the wall. It turned out so beautiful that I’m thinking about having it put in other rooms.

This is a nice option over the traditional weathered boards (like pallet wood). I intend on using the boards in my garage to give my garage a wood shop feel. After opening and seeing the quality of the boards and the ease of how this can be installed, I cannot wait to get it on the walls. To give you an idea of the size of each board, they are 4 feet in length, by 3 7/8 inch wide by 3/8 of an inch thick, which is perfect to put on any wall of your home without adding a lot of weight to the wall. Speaking of weight, each box is about 12 pounds and covers approximately 10 square feet of wall space. A small piece of advice, prior to installing the boards, paint the wall surface with a darker color because there will be spaces between the bards. You can see your existing wall through the cracks easily if you have light colored walls. Perhaps painting the wall a shade darker than the boards would be perfect.

The basic size is as described on the packaging but the thickness varies from board to board. This IS real wood.....Appalachian Poplar to be exact. This has a New England type/sea air weathered grey coloring to it. Some a little darker than others, some with white tint at the board ends. The final result is very nice if you are looking for a "antique/weathered" look similar to a New England barn several decades old. This would work excellent for any type or style of accenting. We used ours to frame around the top of the shower walls (we have an Aqua-glass combination shower/tub) the Mrs was thinking of tile for. We both feel this looks much nicer and was considerably less expensive! This does require a bit of creativity and cutting skill to install, it' can be a challenge for a novice DIY'er. Bonus is we need to install a screen door and we have enough left to actually build one that will look of reclaimed barn-wood! It'll need a sub-frame since the boards are only 48" long but the design we have in mind will work perfect with this!
