With my box one side was milled flat, the other was the original rustic weathered surface.

did you place it on top of base moulding or go to floor? Also did you run up to crown moulding or take the crown down?

I kept my ground molding on then I put them up and go to the ground molding. If you put molding on afterwards you would see that molding sticking out from the walls molding next to the wall. It wouldn't look very stylish in my opion.

Is this product good fpr outdopr use in sunlight and rain?

I you could use it out doors with rain but over time it wouldn't hold up well like day one when you installed it. Wood and rain and steam and moisture I found over the years don't mix forever with wood. Just my experience.

Trying to cover an area that 11w. X 9L how many boxes will I need?

Asked by JuJu August 26, 2017

Answers

Each box is a different weight because all the pieces are cut different and some wider some narrow etc. you'll need to look on the box to see the weight of the boxes and then you can get your total. On any project I do I always get some extra because you never know how much for sure until project is done because you could mess up a piece on install etc.

Could it be used for flooring? Placed on a sub-floor.

I wouldn't. These are seriously lacking in structural integrity, lots of checks and splits. I would only recommend using them in a purely decorative use.

I am not able to open the PDF file. Can this handle humidity/moisture??

This is unsealed wood in thin planks. I would imagine excessive moisture would cause warping and cupping. You could probably seal it though it would change the colors. May be a good thing!

Why does the wall have to painted a dark color before installation?

the wood has slight variations in its width , painting the wall a dark color hides any gaps that may occur when putting up the barnwood

All the same color, very dissapointed!
I purchased three boxes, and almost all of them are the same color. DO NOT PURCHASE, do not waste your money. I got ONE (1) dark espresso color slate, and ZERO greys. Attached picture shows the color of almost all the boards, similar to the white oak box they sell. The other picture is literally the one piece I got that was another color. This is extremely frustrating, wasting my time with such obvious false advertising, off to the store for a return.

This product made this project easy and it turned out beautiful. There were a number of colors and sizes in each box, gave me a lot to choose from. With a skill saw, nail gun/brad nailer I was able to finish the project in a day. Very easy to install and you don’t have to be a professional carpenter.

Sneaky....Lower Grade hidden in the bottom of most boxes

At my local store there are three grades of the BARNLINE product lines. Barnwood with Weathering for $74.98/box, Antique Wood for $54.98/box, and Reclaimed Barnwood for $39.87/Box. The weathered barnwood is beautiful and I purchased 21 boxes to cover serveral walls in my home. The way the boxes are stacked, they come in 3 layers with 5" pieces and 3" pieces and 1 layer of 4" pieces. The 4" pieces are all that is visible when you look at an unopened box. Of the 21 boxes, 13 boxes had 5" pieces that should have been sold as Reclaimed rather than weathered. I have added a picture for reference. I ended up staining some of these, but mostly being unable to use the 5" pieces. All of the 3" and 4" pieces were good. I ended up with 4-5 boxes of unusable 5" pieces. It seems that BARNLINE is hiding this lower cost wood under the higher cost wood to sell for a premium. Do better and just sell it for what it is....
