ByJul 20, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hi there! Yes, Nashua 322 can be used to attach, seam, seal, and patch foil/fiberglass insulation around HVAC ducts. However, we recommend referring to code compliance to verify UL 181 requirements if necessary, for this application.

We had a mama racoon birth her babies in the space between our first floor ceiling and second the floor's flooring. These racoons damaged the HVAC intake duct in this space. Would this tape work to repair chew holes?
    ByJun 27, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

HI there! Yes, Nashua 322 Multi-Purpose Foil Tape may be suitable for patching or covering small chew holes in HVAC ductwork. The tape is specifically designed for sealing ductwork in HVAC systems and is commonly used for duct sealing, insulation patching, and seaming applications. It features a conformable aluminum foil backing and a high-tack adhesive that provides strong adhesion. For best results, the damaged area should be clean, dry, and free of loose material before applying the tape. However, if the raccoon damage is extensive or the duct has large tears, crushed sections, or structural damage, the affected section of ductwork may need to be repaired or replaced rather than simply patched. Best of luck!

      Answer This Question

Hi there! Nashua 322 Multi-Purpose Foil Tape is designed and tested for HVAC applications such as sealing ductwork, insulation seaming, and patching. We do not test or recommend Nashua 322 for use in fireworks assembly, fuse securing, or other pyrotechnic applications. Best of luck!

Is the metal tape water-prof? Can silicone be applied to the surface underneath this tape and arouns the edge?
        ByJun 21, 2026
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Hi there! Thank you for your question. Nashua 322 Multi-Purpose HVAC Foil Tape is designed for sealing ductwork in HVAC systems and features a conformable foil backing with strong adhesion. It is commonly used for duct sealing, insulation seaming, patching, and general HVAC maintenance applications. While the tape is often used in applications where an air-tight seal is needed, the available product documentation does not specifically state that it is waterproof, so we cannot make that claim. Regarding silicone, we do a significant amount of testing on product performance, adhesion, and HVAC applications; however, we do not specifically test Nashua 322 for compatibility with silicone sealants applied underneath the tape or around its edges. Because of that, we cannot confirm how the tape will perform in combination with silicone. We would recommend testing the combination in a small area first to ensure proper adhesion and performance for your application

If I use this tape to secure mesh screens over metal heating vents, can it be removed at a later time if needed? If so, what is the best way to remove it?
            BySep 12, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hi there! This product is meant to be a permanent foil tape, so while you can remove it, it will likely leave some residue behind. For the easiest removal, peel it back slowly, and in addition to a mild adhesive remover, to clean up any adhesive that may be left behind. Best of luck!

Versatile tape , Something made in the 🇺🇲
Maybe one of the better tape brands even better than my relationship with 3M scotch brands, if you're a Lefty liberal or Righty Whity , we shouldn't disagree on the strength , ease of peel from paper , wonderful Foil tape from Nashua. For your average flash border on a roof patch , to wrapping your digital meter head for Faraday and 🔥 safety ,near your fireplace joints, to vehicle dent and rust work on fenders, I find the word exactly 💯 describes the pragmatic use and ease of this product.

It’s definitely better than my apartment maintenance tape flex fix. It seals properly and keeps the heat out and cool in for my portable ac.

                    New use in a pinch?
Okay I have used this tape or the likes on many a/c systems and a few other things but this one was for the bottom of a shower door that was so dull not even Alumabright would make shine so I thought, hmm I wonder and ran to store to buy new tape and well the picture is worth a thousand words. It was all still good but I hated the look and now it's bright like it should be

Great adhesion and a long lasting bond.
Sting adhesive ensures a permanent bond to your ductwork. I’ve used the fibre duct tape in the past but heat causes it to dry out and peel away but that doesn’t happen with this tape. I have some joints that I covered 5 years ago which are as secure today as they were when the tape was first applied.

Great tape for HVAC metal seams but found better use for sealing foam board insulation. Very stickey tape and easy to work with. Stops all air infiltration and makes for a well insulated final job.(Picture) Using 2x2's and R-10 Foam this created a 1.5 inch open channel for air to vent roof heat to top ridge vent. Below the Nashua Taped foam will be R-30 fiberglass insulation giving R40, fully ventilated, ceiling.
