About This Product

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).

Highlights

  • Versatile connector for various 90-degree connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • Made from 12-gauge steel
  • Galvanized (G90) for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 3/8 in. Dia bolts

Questions & Answers

For A88 bracket, what kind of screws and size should be used for wood deck 90 degree conners
ByJul 21, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hi Josn, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The A88 angles use either nails or bolts for installation. For a nail installation you will use (4) 0.148 x 3 into the base and (4) 0.148 x 3 into the post. For bolt installation you will use (3) 3/8 into the base and (3) 3/8 into the post. Please note all references to bolts are for structural-quality through bolts (not lag screws or carriage bolts) equal to or better than ASTM A307, Grade A. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

can I use 1/4x1 1/2" SDS screws with this product?

      Answer This Question

Hi unknown, this is Lexus from Simpson Strong-Tie. Thank you for your inquiry about our A24 item! The A24 is not listed as an approved connector for use with the Strong-Drive SD Connector Screw. The only A angles approved are the A21, A23, A33 and A44. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service Team at 800-999-5099. We're here to help!

In the description it says to use "#9 x 1-1/2-in Strong-Drive SD screws". I tried to fit the screw through the mounting hole on the Angle an it did not fit. Threads are a bit larger than the diameter of the mounting hole. Do you need to force the screw?

Why are the holes in the A44 corner bracket too small even for #9 screws, not to mention the #10 screws I want to use? (The holes can barely fit a 5/32" drill bit into, which is 0.15625", not the 0.171" diameter that AI says the spec sheet says).

                  Answer This Question

Hi Fence, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The A21 is a G90 galvanization and we recommend a minimum of a Zmax for pressure treated lumber applications; so the A21Z would be a zmax option. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

They did a good job for what we were using them for. Building shelv3s in the garage and wanted a little extra strong connections. Hey are quality and came in quickly.

Had some IKEA shelving that was not very sturdy and needed to brace it and this worked perfectly to allow the shelves to carry heavier weight.
