Hello, thank you for reaching out to GRK. Unfortunately, our screws have specially designed features for wood-to-wood attachments with no pre-drilling. Applications using other materials are outside of the intended use of this product. For questions regarding fastening in your application, we recommend contacting a licensed professional engineer to evaluate. Thank you.
Yes these should work. I’d you need more holding power go with their cabinet screws
Yes
Yes, they should work 8f the correct length is used
Absolutely. Get a driver sleeve to stabilize the screw when starting, stay away from the edges or you'll get breakout fractures.
These screws are finish screws with small heads designed to almost vanish when countersunk. The screws recommended for cement siding products should be bugle head. Also, while these are coated to resist corrosion, they are not stainless or galvanized. I would recommend checking with the siding manufacturer for their preferred fastening products and vendors.
I wouldn't. I'd use brad or finish nails set below the surface, then fill the nail holes, that would be a lot smaller holes to fill than these screw holes.
Yes, but be sure to caulk over them after countersinking, then paint the molding.
Brick mould, yes.
Hi Reynolds, yes, this screw has a T10 recess. A T10 bit is included in every pack.
Yes. A short bit is included which I did not use. I installed about 10 into pine to install a window and non stripped out. I don't remember if I predrilled the holes.
Yes.
Yes
Yes it is, there is one in the box when you buy them
Probably, if you were using the screw on oak treads.
I would think so. The heads prety much dissapear and their holding properties are excellent.
I had/have the same question. GRK's site states "Stairs." I will use this length in Treads. assuming 1/16" sunk head and 1" of tread under it, that leaves 1 1/2" of screw for either a False tread I have (a 2x10) or right into stringers. I see this length as the correct length. Still like to see others comment on this particular use. I'm also thinking no Adhesive either on the underside. I plan on filling the small recesses with a colored wax pencil.
Yes.
These screws are longer than needed for the specified task.
There is no downside at all to using these screws for that application. The Trim Head Screws carry code approvals for both structure and use in treated lumber. This means they will hold up well in the application you have mentioned. Depending on the paneling you are using you may want to predrill a small pilot hole if it is hardwood. If you have additional questions, feel free to call Customer Service at 877-489-2726 from 8:00 - 5:00 CT Monday - Friday.
No
Thanks, they seem to work well and are hardly visible even before painting. My concern was with hold and durability against elements (rust, corrosion, etc..), so hopefully they will hold up for the life of the shed. In the attached photo you can see the larger decking screws I used for the fascia and around the panel borders, but barely notice the trim screws I used in the center of the panels.
You want a larger head for this produt.
