I purchased a Wayne 1/2 hp cast iron submersible sump pump with vertical float switch. The pump was been installed for about one month and has been operating as expected. The pump seems solidly built and installation was straightforward. When its running, it operates quietly which is a benefit since our sump pit in the basement is located under the family room.

So far very good. It was a replacement and worked flawlessly. It replaced my non submersible sump pump to eliminate another cutout for my radon mitigation sump basin lid.

Exactly what I needed to replace an old sump pump. Perfect size for my sump pump basin. Good value for money.

Junk! The pump ran for less than 30 seconds before it tripped my GFCI. Continue to trip every time I reset the GFCI. Outlet tested perfect and is less than a year old, and was installed by master electrician. And the fact Home Depot requires you to submit a photo with a review is stupid.

The pump delivered today but something fell off when I opened the package. I called customer service for replacement to be delivered tomorrow morning given that I have someone scheduled for installation. But I was told me that it is available at local store if I need it fast. I confirmed with customer service a few times whether it is available in the store because there is none when I ordered it. She is very sure that I can. Does lows will compensate the water damage and labor costs?

How does the song go, "seems it never rains in Southern California, but girl, let me warn ya, it pours, man it pours”. We can get a lot of rain when the storms roll through, and some of it was beginning to flood our backyard and patio. Did a lot of research on the best pump, and liked the construction details, production tests, and warranty for this pump. Using it for our backyard drainage, it didn’t need to be the largest, and it has proven itself to be perfect for my intended usage. I installed a collection box at what was the lowest part of our yard (also from Home Depot, U.S. TRENCH DRAIN 18”x14” Storm Water Pit and Catch Basin for Modular Trench and Channel Drain Systems with Aluminum Grate), an Everbuilt Sump Pump check valve, and then ran 1 1/2” ABS out to an ABS drain line under our driveway, and continued that run down slope to off the curb. Anchored this box deep down with 10” lag screws through the box sides sideways to eliminate potential for the box to be floated by water. Placed the pump inside, where fit and room was perfect. As stated, this pump works perfectly for its intended use. Rain water runoff accumulates quickly in the box, the float rises as it fills and in less than 2 seconds the box is emptied. Over and over and over. I have stood in the rain and watched it repeat this action effortlessly as the rain pours down. It’s a pleasure to watch a project succeed in its purpose, and have a dry patio. I have the pump plugged into a waterproof passthrough into the house, with a portable GFCI at the outlet. The pump is quiet, efficient, feels very well built, is solid, and has good heft. The most I have heard is a low hum when it activates. It has given us a lot of peace of mind now knowing that we won’t wake to a flooded patio when it rains heavily overnight. I realize we have only started the rainy season as of this writing, but right now I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Wouldn't recommend Wayne pumps if you want one to last more than a couple of years. Installed one of their 1/3 hp pedestal sump pumps a few years ago in my mothers basement. It lasted about 2 years before the shaft rusted to the cast iron and it stopped working. Replaced it with another brand and threw the Wayne off to the side until a few days ago when I brought what was left of it home so I could at least harvest the motor off of it and throw the rust pile away. Total JUNK!

It's hard to rate something that you will depend on for long term durability when just installing it. Just 4 stars for that reason. However, it was easy to install and is extremely quiet.
