Answer This Question

These #8 x 1-1/2 in. Coarse Zinc-Plated Phillips Bugle Head Wood Screws are suitable for use with MDF and melamine/MDF core. They are ideal for applications involving particle board, and melamine boards often have a particle board core. These screws are also recommended for projects such as cabinets, which frequently utilize melamine-faced particle board. The bugle head design helps improve holding power without damaging softer substrates like MDF and particle board.

        Answer This Question

This wood screw has a yellow zinc plating which is only recommended for interior use. Recommended use cases would be furniture or cabinet construction or use with MDF and particle board where the bugle head improves holding power without damaging the softer substrate.

Never Heard of had a bad screw before but this is it.
The torque required to bring two boards together isn't much if they are flat and square. Holding them together shouldn't require the screw as much as the glue you are using to adhere them. These Everbilt screws snap with as little as 4 lbs of torque which isn't enough to keep boards together. They snapped repeatedly as shown in the picture. It wastes time having to remove the screws that did hold and then use a vise grip pliers to get the stud out if it breaks above the surface other wise you need to place another hole and screw. I highly recommend that HD remove them immediately from the shelves as these screws do not meet the standards expected from HD.

These are the worst screws I have ever used. They seem to be very brittle as they break off 25% of the time when the head is screwed down. Then I have to work it out to put another in. Do not waste your time with these. So frustrating dealing with this issue.

The screws worked perfectly for my application. They were used to attach some insulation board to some attic doors and covers.
