Thank you for the honest answer.
We would not recommend this fastener for Redwood as it is also potentially high in tanins (acids) similar to cedar. Although the risk of staining due to a reaction with the steel in the fastener is low, the only way to be 100% sure that no reaction occurs is to use a stainless steel fastener.

Yes, these 4" TimberLOKs can be used but best if staggered from both sides of the beam as they are 1/4"-1/2" shy of the full 4-1/2" depth. A 4-1/2" HeadLOK can be used from one side as they match the depth. Typically, a row of 3 fasteners every 16" is sufficient for typical roof loads (no snow or loads from additional dead weight). Not knowing all the variables, screw has a shear capacity of 200 lbs. not knowing all the variables, its hard to give a better answer. How are you hanging the hammock, bracket? what are you screwing into?
The TimberLOK Fasteners are rated for use in woods treated for above ground and ground contact in general use conditions - defined by the AWPA as UC4A treatment. The application you describe would require treatment levels for ground contact in heavy duty (UC4B). For this condition a stainless steel fastener would be recommended for matching performance.
