About This Product

FastenMaster TimberLOK is a hex head, heavy duty wood screw available in a variety of lengths and packaging sizes for applications such as attaching rafter or trusses to the top plate, headers, stair stringers and more. Designed to replace traditional 3/8 inch lag bolts, TimberLOK installs in a fraction of the time with fewer steps and less effort. Its sharp point and aggressive threads zip right into the densest woods. TimberLOK is tested and supported by engineering data that conforms to the most current ICC standards. It is also approved for use in ACQ or treated lumber. Includes 50, 4 inch wood screws with hex head, and 1 hex driver bit. In 1998, TimberLOK pioneered the category of structural wood-to-wood screws. Since then, TimberLOK and the rest of FastenMaster's LOK Line have been trusted by PROs everywhere.

Q:Re: LedgerLok in coastal environments I read an earlier reply where the manufacturer stated LedgerLoks not suitable in coastal / salty areas. If the part is screwed into the wood (only the head exposed) why would this be risky? Thanks, Irv at my Beach

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. If the fastener head were to fail, the clamping force provided by the screw could be lost and the connection would fail.

Q:Can these be used on exposed porch beams and rafters in place of using a simson h2.5?
    by|Dec 24, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, when used as shown on our Rafter/Truss to Top Plate Technical Bulletin this can replace the H2.5. Although a double top plate is shown in the bulletin, by spacing the fastener 3" down from the top of the beam and maintaining the 20 to 30-degree angle into the rafter, the same loads will be met.

Q:Do you install these with washers for added strength?
      by|Dec 14, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  The TimberLOK head is meant to pull two pieces of wood together then countersink flush if needed. For more clamping force (pulling warped timbers) or thinner outside pieces (like sheathing) you could place a washer under the head or simply switch to our HeadLOK.

I used these to install top round 10’ posts to 75” tall farm fence. May be overkill but worked like a charm. Would highly recommend this product.

          Rusted in weeks
I loved how easy they are to drive. They never split any wood and they did not need pre-drilling. 100 screws later I saw that they started rusting. Really bad outcome for an otherwise good deck. No where on the box did they mention rusting being a possibility.

Rust, especially in such a short timeframe, is very unusual and unexpected. If the application is close to salt water (coastal community, saltwater pool, etc.) and some of the coating rubbed off the hex driver (bit slippage) this might explain some cosmetic surface rust. Other than this type of scenario we really haven't heard this type of complaint. Please contact our Technical Department at 800-518-3569. fastenmaster

Used these to hold the posts for my tiny deck. They're strong and easy to work with. I like the bit that comes with them. I didn't have to search for one that fits.

Pricey but tough screws that are great for wooden retaining walls or decking. They have not corroded over the years although I do not know what they are coated with. Pre-drilling is not required in fresh wood. I use an impact driver with great success, you will struggle to drive them (with no pre-drilling) with any other tool. Drive them with a 5/16" or 8mm nut, preferably the former. I have extra of these and I find I can use them for long hooks in the shed, for hanging extension cords and things of the sort. After driving one, I just bend the end with pliers.
