It worked perfectly!... I just hope they would keep more of these in stock instead of having to order them making me cap the end with sharkbite until I received it the next day.

The Brasscraft shut off valve operates smoothly and is easy to install. The 1/4 turn allows quick shut off in case of emergency. Overall, a good product in chrome finish that functions well.

Used compression fitting on 1/2 copper pipe for ice maker. Easy to install. Just slide it on & tighten nut. Works great.

Could not get the 1/4" compression ring on the 1/4" pipe. Luckily, had a spare 1/4" compression ring/nut combo, compression ring designed to stay in nut, putting both on at same time. Used pliers on nut to get compression ring on and finish job. Can't use pliers on compression ring by itself since it will scratch/gouge ring and allow it to leak. Will chalk it up to 1/4" pipe out of spec? Believe I bought the pipe from home depot years ago. If 1/4" pipe out of spec then should be 5 star. Was difficult to get the spare compression ring on. If 1/4" compression ring out of spec should be 3 star. Rest of product works fine.

Feels very solid and will replace the old corroded handle perfectly. Our supply lines to the restroom faucets are soldered on to the old, builder-grade valves. I'll have to wait until I order new faucets and supply lines before I can install these valves. After reviewing a couple how-to videos, it looks reasonably simple to remove the old compression valves and slide this new one on. Photos show our old valves with a broken knob and severe corrosion on the hot-water valve. I'll add a second review when I've completed the project since it's gotten a bit more involved than my initial expectation. We'll want to do it right.

I had to clean out a very small, very dark cabinet under a bar sink tucked under some stairs in my house. To my distress, I found that a near 40 year old angle valve for the hot water line had been slowly leaking from the stem and slowly destroying the mdf cabinet wall and floor. Why oh why do we allow mdf cabinet construction at all where the cabinet will be used in a "wet" configuration? It's considered wise to use 1/4 turn valves these days. In the past, I have left the old valve in place and and repacked the stem with plumbing pack. But, on this tiny 1/2" x 1/4" valve that just wasn't going to cut it. And, the 1/4 turn valves are less prone to leaks and much easier to operate even after years of service. I was anxious to try the latest push connect product from BrassCraft because this particular installation was only inches from the sidewall of the cabinet and I knew it would be contentious to be manipulating two large wrenches in there simultaneously trying to get a compression ferrule leak free tight. The only tough part of this job was removing the 40 year old ferrules that were crushed into the copper pipe. As is the common case, there wasn't enough existing pipe length to allow me to cut the pipe behind the ferrules. There are several methods of removing stubborn ferrules like this and I chose to use my rotary tool with a metal cutoff wheel because it was handy. It worked quickly and easily. The only trick was to ensure that the slot I cut into the ferrules didn't extend into the pipe underneath. The small rotary tool makes this easy. After removing the ferrules and cleaning up the copper pipes, installing the Brasscraft push connect was as easy as pushing it on snugly and then lining up the feed tube and wrenching the nut down over the new ferrule connecting the supply line to the faucet. This whole job took maybe 1/2 hour if you don't count the two days delay required to exchange the 1/4" valve I bought at first for the necessary 3/8" one I should have gotten. What was I thinking? :-( This Brasscraft valve is very well made, easy to install and actually very nice looking. Especially compared to the old brass valves that are used throughout my house. Be aware that, in my experience at HD, these lovely Brasscraft valves are kept separately and away from similar valves that are in the copper fitting bay on the plumbing aisle. The Brasscrafts are kept near the faucets by themselves. with other nice looking Brasscraft items like braided connectors and faucet repair parts. One needs to pay attention to the aisle and bay listing on the website or identify this product by brand name to the HD associate lest one end up with a competitor's "push connect" angle valve that isn't nearly as nice looking. Now that I've done this one, I'm probably going to do all the angle valves - toilets, sinks and washing machine in my house to avoid future difficulties if I need to turn them off and damage from leaks.

Excellent finish and easy to install. The Brass Craft name has been around since I began in construction and long before that, they make an excellent product and this is no exception. There quality remains unchanged. I really do like the way these are packaged in multi packs, it comes in handy for larger projects and the compression fittings are much easier to install than their sweat in counterparts for tight areas or as a solid replacement when you want a valve that does not spin and stays in its installed position

So first of all I would like to say that I was very sceptical about these push-on valves, for some reason I was still soldering and crimping valves, until recently I finally broke that barrier and the reason is simple - they have been around for long enough period of time and proved to be reliable. Now to this particular valve: first of all it will work with standard copper or PEX pipe or whatever else you want to use, as long as they are of compatible size. Installation time is less than a minute, same as removal - it uses same push-on removal rings as sharkbite, or simply pliers or wisegrips. You can figure out fo yourself how much you will save on labor when you go with these... Now why I really love them: I do kitchen and bathroom remodeling for work and I need to have water during work either for toilet or just for regular use, so I install this valve whenever I want and remove it as many times as I need to, before my walls or floor gets finished, I do that so that I could make nice and tight hole in tile or in the cabinet where water pipes and valves penetrate finish surface. Also I love 1/4 turn valves as they are the most durable and long lasting.

Quarter turn water valve with push to connect input and 3/8" compression out. These valves are the ones under your sink or at your toilet. They stop the water, both hot and cold, so you can change the sink fixture or toilet, without shutting off the water in the rest of the house. The older version of these valves are the multi turn ones. You turn, turn, turn to shut the water off and do the same to turn it back on. The older valves tend to leak and it's always at the wrong time! Or the inside corrodes and breaks and now you have to go outside to shut the water off. Keep these valves on your shelf! I recommend keeping these push to connect and compression type ones. Why? When changing a compression valve, you're suppose to change the ring and nut. they don't come off the pipe, so you'll most likely use the old one. Or, you have to cut the pipe and there may not be enough pipe on the wall to install another nut and ring. If you use a push to fit valve, then all you do is cut the old compression ring off and the nut will slide off. Then you just push the valve on. Again, you have to make sure there's enough pipe on the wall to mount the valve. If there isn't, just use the old compression ring and nut or you'll have to solder a new piece of pipe - something you don't want to do. This valve has the push to connect fitting on the input. What this does is allow you to push the valve on the pipe - must be 1/2 inch, which most houses use. You must push the valve on straight and the end of the pipe must be square or you can get a leak. To remove the valve, you can use the remover tool or push the release ring with a couple screwdriver - it takes a little practice, but it's doable. The other end of the valve is a 3/8" compression fitting. This is the modern standard for sink faucets, but not toilets. If you have an older faucet, you may need a different fitting. Once it's converted to this type of valve, you can change the valve in 15 minutes or less including the time needed to turn the water off (unless the valve is buried under snow - but then you would have a shutoff in the house). I love these valves and I'm tempted to change all of them in my house to the push to fit type. One more thing. There is a chance you can change a valve with the water on, but it'll make a big mess. With the push on type, you'd have to remove the old valve, then push the new one on quickly (with the valve open), then quickly shut the valve off. You'll have a ton of water to clean up, so it's not recommended, but you can do it.

These valves are very easy to install. Simply push them on the end of a cut half inch pipe. They can also be rotated to any position needed. They connect with no tools, solder, or thread sealant. Should a valve need to be removed, it can be removed with a plastic removal tool. I have even been able to remove them by engaging the release ring with a pair of pliers. In new installation when the water is off, you can even attach the faucet line downstream of the valve and then install the valve so you don't have to work in cramped spaces. I only install these quarter turn valves in my projects as I find this valve more reliable than other types.
