Hello Frank. This unit comes with the traditional lift rod type drain assembly.

If you used teflon tape at the water supply valve remove it, tape is not for use on compression fittings. Tighten until there is not play in the line just above the nut.

Instructions say silicone sealant under the gasket is "required". Another model variant (HD67211W-6201) suggests sealant 'if the sink is uneven'. Has the gasket been upgraded on the 6201? If sealant is always necessary on the 6A01, which is best? Thx.
Thank you. with most installations, the gasket will provide an adequate seal so the silicone is not absolutely required but we recommend using it if the sink is uneven or you would like to ensure a tighter seal.
