Will this work installed behind a vinyl gable end vent ? Or do you have to use a louvered vent ?
    ByJul 25, 2026

If using a Fixed gable louver, it must mounted per the installation instructions and be large enough as to not block the intended airflow.

My current fan motor recently died so I was looking to replace just the motor/blade assembly. But the current one appears to be 15" blade diameter and a 17" internal drum/housing. Will this work for what I am looking for? If not, suggested model numbers?
      ByJul 19, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

You will need to determine which model fan you currently have. The motor can be replaced, and the blade reused. If you have any other questions regarding Master Flow products, please email MasterFlowTech@gaf.com

Is it possible to bypass the thermostat? I want the fan to continue to run when the temp is below 60 to pull cool air through the house and cool it. A timer would be ideal to change throughout the seasons. It’s currently on a switch so I can turn on/off.

            Answer This Question

This Attic Ventilation Fan is designed to run off a thermostat and should be mounted in an unoccupied attic space.

What size of cable do I need for install?
              ByMay 16, 2026
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

If you are referring to the wiring, Electrical work and wiring must comply with local building codes, fire ratings, and the National Electrical Code. Wiring & Capacity: Use a minimum of 14-gauge wiring with at least 3 amps of available capacity. If existing circuit capacity is uncertain, install a separate dedicated circuit. Safety Restriction: Do NOT use an extension cord to power the unit. If you are referring to the "Gable" size, it should be at least 15." The fan needs to be mounted according to the installation instructions. If you have any other questions regarding Master Flow products, please email MasterFlowTech@gaf.com

at what temperature do you set the thermostat ?
                ByMay 12, 2026
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

Master Flow recommends setting the thermostat at 105°f. The adjustable thermostat will start the fan when the temperature reaches the set level (recommended 105°f) and remain on until the temperature drops approximately 8-10 degrees from this setting

                  Quiet and no vibrations
I had my electrician install the 1600 in my attic. It is so quiet that I didn’t even know it was running the first time it ran. In the house there is a VERY LOW hum when standing under it. Guests can’t even hear it! You can hear the fan blowing when outside, of course. There is no vibration either when it is running. I like that it is on a switch so I can turn it off in the cool and winter months. My attic feels cooler and I’m very happy it is installed!

Needed for Attic in the Heat!
I purchased and installed the 1450 CFM model back in June of 2017 and it lasted 9 years. I chose this one as the replacement because it is the same physical size but moves 1600 CFM. This has been a necessary addition to our attic space to reduce the temperature and allow the HVAC unit installed in the attic to be more efficient that when it is subjected to temperatures in excess of 110F. The fan is extremely quiet for what it does and there is no noticeable vibration from the unit. The unit is extremely corrosion resistant with no evidence of corrosion on the previous unit that lasted 9 years. Installation of this unit is straightforward and the directions provided are easy to follow and self explanatory. The included pre-wired thermostat ensures the unit operates only when needed and the user can determine the best temperature for the fan to be activated. Highly recommend this product for anyone who has high attic temperatures and is looking

                      Quiet Attic Fan
I purchased this attic fan a few days ago and installed it today. This was a replacement for a 14 year old attic fan that was noisy that finally went out. This fan was one inch larger then the one I replaced but It fit. As soon I started it I felt the hot air going out and noticed how quiet this fan runs. I hope it lasts as long as the old one. Time will tell…

Pros - It's quieter and much more effective at cooling the attic than the last one. I have some shroud in mine, since I didn't cut wood to go around it. I hear a gentle hum in the room directly below it, which is much better than the roar of the last one. Cons: -- The Electrical: 1. Aluminum wiring was used inside the thermometer box. I used Alumiconn AL-CU certified bolts to handle the hookup to the copper power line, which could be overkill. 2. The non-standard 3/4" hole for the electric line. I ended up finding a snap-tite 1/2" KO fitting, labeled 3/8 flex on the second try. None of sizes on the package match up to the hole size, but it made a perfect tight fit. Just to note I have a box of 3/8 non-metallic screw type connectors; they are too small and go right through the hole. I will leave the reliability for those writing the review on their second fan. Pictures from those lasting five years look like they worked harder than normal.

It’s more quite than a attic fan
I was worried about been loud like the attic fan because I mounted above my kids rooms. After the installation I when down to the rooms and can’t heard or feel any vibration like the attic fan. Today 6/22/22 was a cool day so didn’t turned on. The old attic fan had it set up to stop when the attic get 90* and for this fan I set it up at 85* now I have to wait for a hot day to see how long it will run. Couldn’t upload the video but it’s nice a quiet

                          Already reduced my attic temperature!
I bought this fan to replace a 30 year old similar model that died. The garage attic shares a wall with my son's room and is accessed via a cheap indoor hollow core door (I'm almost certain the builder was related to the code inspector). So with the attic over 120 degrees, his room is hot. It took me about 90 minutes to find the right breaker, uninstall the old one, cut some extra 2x4 for clearance, and install and wire the new one. I didn't do anything fancy, it's just place right over the old rectangular fixed louver. After about 30 minutes, the temp has already dropped 10 degrees. Notes: As Mike below points out, this doesn't come with the clamp to hold the Romex. Glad I watched the installation video before ordering, because they mention this. Considering it would have added about 25 cents to the cost, I have no idea why. I just ordered 3/8 in. Non-Metallic (NM) Twin-Screw Cable Clamp Connectors (5-Pack) along with the fan. Also *Mike*, THE BOX IS NOT SEALED. See the indentation along the side of the box in my photo. Put your finger behind the box about the height where the indentation is and lift the cover gently away from the box and toward you to remove. If you don't keep a garage full of basic building/electrical supplies and you aren't replacing a fan don't forget wood screw for installation and wire nuts.
