Questions & Answers

Do I need shielding gas for this
ByMar 23, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

You do not need shielding gas when using Innershield NR‑211‑MP. This wire is a self‑shielded flux‑core product, which means the flux inside the wire creates its own shielding during welding. No external gas tank required.

      Answer This Question

This product is a flux-cored welding wire designed for MIG wire-feed welders. It is not intended for use with a soldering iron. A soldering iron is used for joining smaller electronic components or other materials with solder, while this wire is for welding mild steel.

Yes! My preferred way to wear aluminum is folded neatly into a hat to effectively act as a faraday cage around my brain to keep others from intercepting my thoughts. #birdsarentreal

We use this wire for steel that will be galvanized after welding as recommended by the American Galvanizing Association because of its' low silicon content. Lincoln NR-211 meets E71T-11 standard which means you can weld multiple passes and is superior to E71-GS which is single pass only. We use this wire in .035 diameter to fabricate parts for lighter work up to 1/2" thick. For heavier work we use Lincoln NR-212 in .045 diameter which we get elsewhere for up to 3/4" thick. For most uses, this NR-211 in .035 will work great and we recommend.

                Lost part of the spool
This mig wire acts like spring steel and if you are not careful when loading it, it can unravel in your hands, and you can lose part of the spool in a tangled mess. I feel this product is packaged incorrectly and needs to have an adhesive safety strip that gets removed after a lead portion is feed into the rollers. I'm sure Lincoln loves it when customers like me screwup so they can sell more mig wire.

I only use flux core wire when welding outside cause it's shielded, otherwise I use regular gas wire in my shop. I use Lincoln wire cause i feel it's better quality than most bargain store wire.
