I used this to cover a popcorn ceiling. Did prep work which included using a putty knife to make sure grooves were clear and wiped down tongues to remove debris from milling. Pre-painted faces of planks and back-primed backs, but was careful to keep paint off the tongues and grooves. Face nailed planks to ceiling joists using a brad nailer set to place nail heads just below the surface. Discovered it would have been easier if I'd scraped the popcorn ceiling first! Might also want to consider using lathe furring strips if your ceiling is very uneven - mine wasn't bad. Used blocks of the planks themselves to tap the tongues into the grooves. This avoids flattening the edges to where they won't fit together. Puttied the nail holes and the butt-joints between plank ends, then touched up the paint and put up crown molding. This was 2 years ago and it still looks very good. The back-priming limits seasonal expansion and formation of gaps.

I bought this beadboard planking to place under the porch...
I bought this beadboard planking to place under the porch roof in a newly contracted casita. After being painted and stapled in place, it warped considerably when the humidity got high. The headboard did not get wet, but it warped and I had to remove it.

Not worth the money
Not easy to apply for ceiling. Chips easily. Very flimsy. Returning and shopping elsewhere. Very disappointed.

I would give it 5 stars if it was solid...
I would give it 5 stars if it was solid wood. MDF is little too flexible.I also have had to prime the back
because mnfr recommends it.
