6407U 7/16 in. x 7/16 in. x 48 in. Hardwood Round Dowel

I needed some 7/16 wood dowels for a project. Ran up to Home Depot, bought 4 of them and attempted to use them in a project. All 4 dowels instead of being a round rods were oval rods. Smallest diameter was 0.437" (the correct size for 7/16) and 0.453" for the larger diameter, (0.016" oversized.) Of course, the dowels would not fit a 7/16" drill hole. They were too tight for a 29/64" hole and in the next size up, they were a sloppy fit in a 15/32" hole. I believe Home Depot sources just about every product from the cheapest vendor they can possibly find. I'm the one stuck with shoddy materials and, extra work with less than well-made projects. I wish there was a good hardware store close to me, and I wish Home Depot had some serious competition to help them stay on their toes.

THIS IS, ACTUALLY, FOR A PROJECT FOR A HANGING CURTAIN IN A DOORWAY. I HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING ALL THE PIECES I WAS LOOKING FOR. A CLERK IN THE LUMBER DEPARTMENT CAME TO ME AND OFFERED ASSISTANCE. ALL THE PARTS WERE EXACTLY WHERE SHE SAID THEY WOULD BE AND THE PROJECT TURNED OUT GREAT.
