11,600 BTU R-410A Window Heat Pump Air Conditioner with 3.5 kW Electric Heat and Remote

This A/C unit has been incredibly resilient despite suffering through over four years of neglect and abuse on our part. The first time we had it "serviced," the local techs explained to us that the issue was our four-legged kiddos' shedding kept getting sucked in past the filter. Their recommendation was to get a regular filter and stick it in front of the unit since they agreed with the handyman's recommendation against installing it too high up on a second floor without adequate support. When we remember to do this, it works great! Once or twice a year, I have to remember to remove the grill and wipe off any fur that snuck through. Usually we can tell when it's time because it starts leaking. Obviously, this is entirely our fault because it was installed on the floor right in front of the dogs' crates. But even despite this, as soon as we clean that up, it immediately works well again. You'd think that by now some of the parts would've failed because of this neglect, but nope! We're thinking about purchasing another one for the downstairs because it's done so well, except THIS time we'll have it installed up high on the wall since support won't be an issue instead of near the floor, so we don't have it constantly vacuuming up fur! Incidentally, our upstairs is also improperly insulated. It's about 370 sqft, but we're only using R13 insulation in an upstairs attic room, which is why we oversized to the 600 sqft model. During the hottest parts of our summers (Texas), it struggles to drop the temperature (it can usually manage low 80s), but again, this is a large, open upstairs attic room with like 1/2 to 1/3 the level of insulation it needs, and the sun beating down directly on the other side of the roof. I included an additional image showing proof of purchase since we bought it four years ago, as I wasn't sure if it'll show up as "verified purchase" or not.

Love this AC. It is very powerful but very silent. It also has a heat pump, so the heat it creates is x3 more efficient co.pared to a regular electric space heater. item looks good.

The Amana 11,600 /btu air conditioner is now a week old and works great in our new 300 sq. ft. sun room. It is very quite and I love the save mode that shuts the unit down when it reaches the inputted temperature. I highly recommend this unit.

Unbelievably, this product cannot be installed into any vinyl window without major changes being made to the window frame. I called the tech support, and they acted completely oblivious, as if they had never heard of vinyl windows or the need to install in such a type. This will not fit in ANY window with any kind of raised ridge in the middle. Now I'm having to go through the trouble of custom-cutting a piece of wood to fit in the bottom so I can get this in there. Big shame, I had no idea.

The Amanna window heat/air unit is much quieter than our previous one. Very well satisfied.. Hope the heat works as well this winter.
